Eddie only to tunnel traffic in a certain browser

Hi Folks,

 

I'm looking to keep Eddie running all the time but to only have it work through say Firefox.  Where I live sometimes I need to have a VPN on and sometimes I need it off but I would prefer to switch browsers than to turn Eddie on and off constantly.  Any thoughts on how to do this?  Thanks.

You would use a virtual machine to run Eddie in, while the host machine runs a different browser, without Eddie on the system. Otherwise I don't think it's possible to isolate the connection to a specific browser. If you don't assign many resources to the virtual machine, you could keep it running all the time as well and besides that, restoring from a snapshot where Eddie is already turned on, is quite fast too.

You could simply install a firewall pfsense, and have it handle the vpn connection.  There is a guide on here for that setup.  Once setup properly, all you would need to do is assign http and https to route outbound to the vpn.  You would also need to route DNS outbound the VPN as well to prevent any DNS leaks.  I had this setup for quite awhile until I moved to a different firewall.  

 

Another method I am looking into is creating a proxy that routes out the the VPN and just connect my browser to that proxy.
