Eddie 2.2beta available

Recommended Posts

Hello!

We're very glad to inform you that a new Eddie Air client version has been released: 2.2beta. It addresses a lot of issues after the previous beta testing phase. Please read the changelogs: https://airvpn.org/services/changelog.php?software=client&format=html

Sorry, the network leak protection is still not available. We're experiencing issues on some network environments that we need to fix before a public release. It's our current priority.

This is the first version available for Mac OS X. It's currently tested only under Mavericks, feel free to report if it works on other versions.

The OS X version currently have some graphical glitches in speed chart, and incomplete implementation of custom routes and advanced events.

The 2.2beta version is compatible with several Linux distributions. For very important notes about environments, please read here: https://airvpn.org/forum/35-client-software-platforms-environments

Planned next steps: Network Leak Protection implementation, improved OS X version.

Eddie 2.2beta Linux can be downloaded here: https://airvpn.org/linux_ex

Eddie 2.2beta Windows can be downloaded here: https://airvpn.org/windows_ex

Eddie 2.2beta OS X can be downloaded here: https://airvpn.org/macosx_ex

Eddie 2.2beta is free and open source software released under GPLv3

Kind regards & datalove

Is it just me, or does the OS X link go to the Windows page?

And then if I type the OS X URL into my browser, it looks like the Linux page but offers the OS X software...

Now that's alternative to alternative!

edit: on running AirVPN.app it then tells me I have to install something called mono (an open source implementation of Microsoft's .NET Framework ) - which is 138MB. I thought 4.9MB was a little too good to be true. Just a heads-up for anyone with download quotas.

Also, I've tried connecting to multiple servers, only to be disconnected pretty much immediately after it says "checking route" and connecting.

I am able to connect to these servers via Tunnelblick though.

Very glad to hear that the OSX version is out!

I also cannot get to the beta OSX version. It directs me to the windows version.

Yep, the macosx url in the first post is linked to the windows page. Also, if we directly visit the url https://airvpn.org/macosx_ex, it looks like we have reached the page for the linux client. Anyway, selecting the `.tar.gz` allows one to download the app.

I am unable to get the app working. On connecting to a recommended server, it gets stuck in the loop  -> connect successfully -> check routes -> disconnect -> restart in 3 sec -> connect successfully to another server -> repeat. This happens irrespective of whether I choose to connect to recommended server or a specific server. I am ensuring that I don't have any conflicting port/protocol/server on the Windows machine. I have tried different ports and protocols. Even disconnected the Windows client and tried the same settings on the Mac box, same problems.

I am able to use Tunnelblick without any issues. This connect-disconnect loop only happens with the Eddie Mac client. Logs below.

Is it just me, or does the OS X link go to the Windows page?

Fixed, sorry.

edit: on running AirVPN.app it then tells me I have to install something called mono (an open source implementation of Microsoft's .NET Framework )[/size] - which is 138MB. I thought 4.9MB was a little too good to be true. Just a heads-up for anyone with download quotas.

This is unexpected, we'll investigate on it.

Also, I've tried connecting to multiple servers, only to be disconnected pretty much immediately after it says "checking route" and connecting.

From your logs, it's caused by an exception that didn't happen on our test environment. We'll investigate on it.

Thanks for your feedback.

We have updated the OS X package (without a version change). Now 'Mono' is not required anymore, and the connect-disconnect loop is fixed. Please re-download and retry. Thanks.

Ok, have tried the updated package and keep getting an "OpenVPN Not found" message (I think you've just forgotten to add the openvpn directory inside the airvpn.app package). Tunnelblick does still connect. Logs below:

FYI, the new 2.2 client works OK on 14.04.

Also, a reminder for linux users: a simple ufw firewall still protects against network leaks and broken connections  -------------- > until the finished client is ready to go.  Don't take chances when its so easy to cover yourself.

Mavericks.

I'm using the newly updated package, and so far so good. No leaks detected either.

Thank you very much.

Upon trying to "connect to recommended server" I received this notification (see screenshot). What should I do?

I just re-downloaded and did a fresh install on the Mac OSX (using Mavericks) and it seems to be working fine. It did not pop up with the message above this time.

Hello!

It seems a software crash and your system ask you to debug. Answer 'Not now' and restart. Does anyone else have this kind of crash?

Kind regards

@Staff, I downloaded the client once again an hour ago and everything works great. I haven't faced the crash yet, but its only been an hour . WIll report it if I do get a crash. On a side not, if the app does crash, is there a log file that I can post here? If yes, please mention the location for the file.

Great job on the Mac client. Really glad that I can now delete the various Tunnelblick configurations I had created to try out different port/protocol/server combinations

I ran into the same thing when I was trying to install a music app. Finally, I just downloaded and installed Xcode from the app store. I don't even know what it does, but I was able to install the app I wanted and everything has been running smoothly since.

You should have a current backup anyway, so why not try it. If there's a problem, revert from your backup.

Windows 7 32bit version is looping connect/disconnect after "checking route"

Eddie 2.2 beta

Edit: Apparently not supported for Windows 8 RT, although I will confirm this, when changed to TCP from the default UDP, Eddie 2.2 connects without looping on Windows 8 RT.

I think that's what I'll do. I think I saw the app in the Appstore so I don't think it will hurt anything.

Hey, client looks great.

For Ubuntu, I connect to AirVPN servers via network manager. When I connect this way and check the client, it says "Not connected. Network exposed" even though I'm technically connected to a AirVPN server. Would it be possible to have two checks, one for if the user is connected to the client and one checking to see if you are connected to one of the VPN servers?

Hello!

In your system, does /dev/net/tun exist?

Kind regards
