    Hello Mardrommar

    Manually assigning a port on Transmission is not enough to enable port forwarding. You have to assign the port to your account here at AirVPN (assuming it's available). A lot of ports are taken (you can see huge splotches of red on the port map they have) but it will find you one if you just click Add without entering any information. I would recommend keeping the default setting (forward both TCP and UDP since you don't really need to filter either types, and no DDNS since you won't be hosting a service like a web site that needs to be easily connectable by an actual person and not the torrent client). After you have a forwarded port then just reassign that port to Transmission (unless you lucked out and your port wasn't being used, if then? congrats!) and see if you get incoming connections.

    Also, from what I read you're not getting any connections at all. Are you sure that the torrent you're using has sufficient peers? Torrents are all about sharing and if no one is sharing that file you won't get it either. Also on that note, are you connecting to any of the torrent's trackers and/or finding peers through DHT? Many public trackers block the AirVPN IP addresses (you can easily find the link in the signature of the user "giganerd" I think, I'm still getting used to posting on forums that's my own learning curve haha) so many times you have to rely on DHT. If you haven't done so make sure you've got that enabled and it's finding peers.

    A couple other tips - make sure uPnP (Universal Plug n Play) is DISABLED - you don't need it and should NOT use it while running through the VPN. uPnP attempts to automatically forward ports through your gateway or router which you DON'T need and can reveal what you're doing to your ISP which they may not enjoy (and you wouldn't be going through the VPN, so what's it for then?)... Ensure also you have incoming connections enabled (some torrent clients, I dunno about Transmission since I use Vuze mostly, allow you to completely disable incoming connections which is rather stupid if you ask me) and make sure traffic is being routed through your VPN. Force Transmission to use your tunnel interface (if you're using Linux its generally tun0) if not already done so.

    If all else fails? Maybe someone else will also reply with a better answer. I would be a fool to call myself "good" at this but a lot of times a simple misconfiguration can lead to disaster, rhetorically speaking. Best of luck, let me know what happens!

    Hello!

    We're very glad to inform you that a new 1 Gbit/s server located in the Netherlands is available: Nusakan.

    The AirVPN client will show automatically the new server, while if you use the OpenVPN client you can generate all the files to access it through our configuration/certificates/key generator (menu "Client Area"->"Config generator").

    The server accepts connections on ports 53, 80, 443, 2018 UDP and TCP.

    Just like every other Air server, Nusakan supports OpenVPN over SSL and OpenVPN over SSH.

    As usual no traffic limits, no logs, no discrimination on protocols and hardened security against various attacks with separate entry and exit-IP addresses.

    Do not hesitate to contact us for any information or issue.

    Kind regards and datalove

    News for our beta testers: a major step in Eddie development will be the support of ANY ovpn configuration, with automatic import of ovpn configuration files of our VPN service competitors. Some features depend on server-side software (DNS/Route checking and SSH/SSL tunnel for example), but major features (including Network Lock) will be available.

    We have planned this because our mission even focuses on helping people with FOSS software for privacy protection. Using our VPN service and servers is a sustainable method to allow us to work according to our mission.

    Hello!

    There was a wrong 2.8 version inside the "2.9" RPM archive, we apologize for the issue. It has been fixed, please re-download.

    Anyway, dpkg (in general .deb installers) has no problems in packages re-installation even if the package is the same version of the one already installed, while rpm may refuse to re-install. This may be a problem for you when we release the final 2.9: if so, try with --force

    Connecting one computer to a VPN server does not affect any other device in the local network. Your case is interesting because it appears (unless arcane router bugs) theoretically impossible. What happens to the other devices (not connected to any VPN server) in the network?

    There are much better options in Czech Republic.
    In fact, there was a server in US a few months ago that was taken down exactly from that reason.

    Staff got a reaction from kmk7x in What is a VPN?   ...
    What is a VPN?

    VPN is an acronym of Virtual Private Network. Our VPN extends the private network across the Internet. It enables your computer (the "client") to send and receive data across the Internet through dedicated nodes ("the VPN servers") as if those data were an integral part of the private network. This is achieved through a point-to-point OpenVPN (in routing mode) connection. The connection is encrypted and each packet is authenticated both by your client and our servers, so that nobody (including your ISP) between your computer and the VPN server can see the data you transmit and receive, the real origin and destinations of such data, and, last but not least, can inject forged packets into your stream of data. The picked encryption cipher meets higher-than-military security requirements.
    Additionally, when your client has established a point-to-point encrypted connection (often referred to as "the tunnel"), your data will "get to the Internet" without any reference to your real IP address, which is simply no more inside the packets. Anybody on the Internet will therefore see your packets as coming from our VPN servers exit-IP addresses, not from your real IP address, protecting you against privacy intruders and other malignant entities, such as sniffers in public WiFi hot-spots, hi-jackers, profilers and disturbed "copyright trolls".

    You don't need to configure applications to use "the tunnel", because our servers perform a set of route and default gateway pushes that your client accepts: your applications are "tunneled" transparently. OpenVPN encapsulates your packets inside an UDP or TCP stream, therefore all same or higher layer protocols are supported, making a VPN a profoundly different and highly superior solution to any http or socks proxy.

    AIRVPN DOES NOT RECOGNIZE ANYMORE VERISIGN, AFILIAS AND ICANN AUTHORITY. OUR COMMITMENT AGAINST UNITED STATES OF AMERICA UNFAIR AND ILLEGAL DOMAIN NAMES SEIZURES.

    The United States of America authorities have been performing domain names seizures since the end of 2010. The seizures have been performed against perfectly legal web-sites and/or against web-sites outside US jurisdiction.

    Administrators of some of those web-sites had been previously acquitted of any charge by courts in the European Union.

    The domain name seizures affect the world wide web in its entirety since they are performed bypassing the original registrar and forcing VeriSign and Afilias (american companies which administer TLDs like .org, .net, .info and .com) to transfer the domain name to USA authorities property. No proper judicial overview is guaranteed during the seizure.

    Given all of the above, we repute that these acts:

    - are a violation of EU citizens fundamental rights, as enshrined in the European Convention on Human Rights;
    - are an attack against the Internet infrastructure and the cyberspace;
    - are a strong hint which shows that decision capacities of USA Department of Justice and ICE are severely impaired;

    and therefore from now on AirVPN does not recognize VeriSign, Afilias and/or ICANN authority over domain names. AirVPN refuses to resolve "seized" domain names to the IP address designated by USA authorities, allowing normal access to the original servers' websites / legitimate Ip addresses.

    In order to fulfil the objective, we have put in place an experimental service which is already working fine. If you find anomalies, please let us know, the system will surely improve in time.

    Kind regards
