3 points@StaffCan you deploy a server in Canada or US for this test-phase?(if possible) Reason: Max speed qbit(~60-80MB/s) to Marsic(Mars I see). Need another server to compare speed-wise(etc).

After Mullvad, IVPN is now also phasing out port forwarding
–Phase– and one other reacted to Quallian for a post in a topic
This is where AirVPN's superiority becomes overwhelming. From single port randomly assigned per-session to inability to selectively link ports to devices and keys and other missing options (such as remapping), the other services are now lagging fatally behind airvpn. -
2 points@Undated8198 Hello, we have no plans to remove port forwarding, quite the contrary: we are currently deploying resources to delay port exhaustion and find alternative, but comfortable, procedures to keep offering this service in anticipation of port exhaustion. As you can see we already limited to new customers the amount of bookable ports, in order to preserve advertised features to those who are already our customers. We are committed to avoid retro-active modifications of the service for pre-existing customers, when such modifications would be detrimental for the service or anyway betraying an advertised feature. Kind regards

1 pointHey folks, since a few days I got following issue: Network lock and VPN disabled > League of Legends (Riot Client) connects and works normally Network lock enabled but not VPN > Riot client error "no internet connection" (Expected behavior. Simply proof the game is affected by Eddies functions and the error for internet issues is different than connection refusal) Network lock and VPN enabled > Riot client error "Updateserver down" (See screenshot) I tried multiple countries and server connections. All failed. Since the server is accessible without Airvpn it seems that they blocked the servers. Do you have the same issue?

Road to OpenVPN 2.6 and DCO
Flx reacted to oassQ9w4cbl4AySZhhth%p36x for a post in a topic
1. I don't personally see this as much of an issue but I agree with you that it would benefit from being in the kernel. Just being in the Linux tree doesn't provide near as universal benefits as are made out, because whilst true you might get some bug fixes that come down the line through testing - and the testing that goes on is largely automated tested testing, it doesn't ensure that anybody is really going to actively maintain it in relation to feature sets or utilities or any meaningful development. I can point to a variety of in-kernel stuff which is just like that, hasn't received any meaningful updates in years and likely won't receive any (because the dev has long abandoned it) 2. I was under the impression that the two could co-exist, we've had reports of others in various threads connecting to OVPN servers whilst having DCO supported clients but not supported servers and everything working fine. RE: performance - from benchmarks others have done, it appears that OVPN will be significantly faster than wireguard. I don't know how they are accomplishing this but I think it will likely be due to the ciphers that are being used. Making use of the AES-NI ciphers, AES-256-GCM, AES-128-GCM are likely how they are reaching those performance values. Finally on your last point, cant you fork their fork and merge it back? or whoever else who wants to? It sounds to me like you want people to actively maintain something in a manner that you see fit, which just seems silly. AirVPN have made various posts on various changes they made and the performance gains they had as a result or use case scenarios that benefitted them. -
1 pointGood find! Works for me too. (But the ping sucks really bad) Veritate (Germany) also works

ANSWERED No Internet on Mac when NOT connected with Eddie (2.23.1)
spinmaster reacted to Staff for a post in a topic
Hello! It might be a DNS issue, if Eddie failed to restore DNS settings in case of a "dirty exit" (graceless kill, crash...). If your system can't resolve names (the purpose of DNS) you will have the feeling that Internet connection doesn't work (even if it does). When the system is connected to the VPN, names can be resolved because the VPN DNS is probably set. However, the VPN DNS is accessible only from inside the VPN. Eddie keeps safety backup files for similar occurrences, so re-running it and shutting it down properly should fix the problem. If this procedure fails, then you can check manually and set properly your system DNS. We recommend Quad9 DNS (9.9.9.9), OpenNIC https://www.opennic.org and DNS.Watch (84.200.69.80) https://dns.watch/ for their commitment to privacy and neutrality. How to configure/change DNS settings in macOS: https://serverguy.com/kb/change-dns-server-settings-mac-os/ Kind regards -
1 pointAs a Mullvad refugee I just want to say thank you to the AirVPN team for your unwavering commitment to neutrality. In today's hostile climate, I'm sure that is no easy feat. So many services that once claimed to be on the side of neutrality and privacy have simply given up the fight. The fact that AirVPN has held firm in these times tells me that they are a trustworthy VPN worth supporting, and I'm holding out hope that they will continue to live up to those ideals. Without port forwarding, torrenting dies, and that is why anti-p2p groups are trying so hard to convince VPNs to get rid of it. Unfortunately Mullvad and IVPN surrendered without much of a fight.

1 pointSame here, but this one is working for me: 👇 Switzerland 5492 / 18000 Mbit/s 646 9 Best: Xuange

1 pointI tried setting the DNS to 1.1.1.1 but that also didn't fix it. Is there any way to just exclude the update server from the network lock / VPN? Or the entire game?

Port forwarding availability change
andrut reacted to cccthats3cs for a post in a topic
With news of Mullvad and now IVPN removing port forwarding, can we have assurance from staff that AirVPN is not planning to remove port forwarding? -
0 pointsCan you guarantee that you won't misuse the port forwarding feature, and pay the entire server bill for one month if you abuse? What kind of more guarantees do you want, @Staff just confirmed there are no plans to remove this feature, to the contrary, there are plans to look for solutions to make these resources available forever. All other VPN providers you mention that cowardly remove this feature do not have a net neutrality prospect and mission prospect like airvpn does. If you read those, you will see p2p (not possible without port forwarding) is one of the most important aspects in a decentralized censorship-resistant internet, which is in tango with airvpn's mission. The mission and net neutrality prospects of airvpn have not changed since its inception so I doubt it will happen, unless something really ugly happens. Happy p2p-ing in the mean time.
