Hello!

Apparently the Air client passes to OpenVPN a wrong remote address (localhost) or does not pass any parameter at all. Can you please try again with any antivirus or similar program disabled? When you "login" with the Air client, does it show the correct servers list? Can you please check that "Proxy" settings in client "Preferences" are set to "None"?

Kind regards

With all antivirus and firewall software disabled, it still results in the above error log. I do have access to the complete server list and can pick any. Proxy is also set to "None".

When I had the problem with "Failed to start", i  was F@£¤%ng furious.

Nothing would help and I tried changing all kinds of settings, installing, remvoving and installing .NET framwork, restarting computer left and right etc. with no effect. I was mad as hell. Then i did the following:

first deleted the air settings file+ the air client itself, uninstalled openvpn, then installed openvpn via the Air-website and downloaded the air client again.

I got a message-"balloon" in the system tray saying openvpn is outdated and clicked to update it. Bam. Working again.

No trouble since then.

Not exactly an "expert"-solution but it worked for me

Hello!

Following hints by ZPKZ, can you please try to delete file:

C:\Users\******\AppData\Roaming\AirVPN\Air\1.0.0.0\AirVPN.xml

It's the Air client configuration file. When you re-start the Air client, it will re-create the file (you will have to enter again your login name). If that file is somehow corrupt, deleting it will solve the problem.

Kind regards

Hello!

The problem is here:

8/25/2013 - 3:31 PM There are no TAP-Windows adapters on this system.  You should be able to create a TAP-Windows adapter by going to Start -> All Programs -> OpenVPN -> Add a new TAP-Windows virtual ethernet adapter.

Perhaps something went wrong during OpenVPN installation.

Try to add the adapter (the virtual network interface used by OpenVPN) as specified in that log entry, making sure that you launch the script with administrator privileges (right-click and select "Run as administrato"). If the script fails and/or the error persists, please uninstall OpenVPN and re-install it, making sure to authorize the driver installation.

Kind regards

yea i read that in the log.. perhaps if you explained with more detail the steps.. on win 8 i go to start, then right click and choose "all apps" then i scroll right until i find openvpn. the only application here is openvpn GUI which i right click and hit open as admin. it starts fine but all i can really do is select settings which doesnt give me a lot of options.NOTE: in the config file under openvpn it only consists of a read me file. i have tried reinstalling as well as redownloading..

In the latest releases of OpenVPN this is not in the start menu any more. A bug I guess. The script to add an adapter is here:

"C:\Program Files\TAP-Windows\bin\addtap.bat"

Right-click on this instead.

@seanconnery

That's totally correct, there is a problem in the driver signature on installer I002 (and maybe on I001 as well): maybe related to expiration on 21-Aug-2013.

I003 solves the problem. We will update our package in the nearest future. In the meantime, those who run Windows and need a new OpenVPN installation can download OpenVPN 2.3.2 with installer I003 on the official OpenVPN community site:

https://openvpn.net/.../downloads.html

Other OS users can ignore this message.

Kind regards
