ANSWERED Can not use config generator; jQuery error

Recommended Posts

Hi guys.

It seems that there is some jQuery related problem when I use the config generator. I tick the appropriate boxes, but when I click "Generate", nothing happens. The error console shows this:

JavaScript - https://www.airvpn.org/generator/
Event thread: click
Error:
name: ReferenceError
message: Statement on line 76: Undefined variable: jQuery
Backtrace:
  Line 76 of inline#46 script in https://www.airvpn.org/generator/: In function Download
    jQuery('#download_mode').val(x);
  Line 1 of function script
    javascript:Download('list');
  ...
stacktrace: n/a; see 'opera:config#UserPrefs|Exceptions Have Stacktrace'

There is also a bunch of similar errors when loading the page.

I'm using Opera 9 (It's old, I know) so I guess there is some compatibility problem going on here.

Is there a way to try out the service without using the config generator?

Okay, so I managed to generate a config from a different computer.

I had to edit the generated file somewhat (split out certificates from the config) because I messed up in ticking the right boxes, but so far it all seems to work; I am connected to - and posting from - an AirVPN exit right now.

It would still be nice to have a manual option for getting the certs and key, though.

Hello!

We are investigating on the issue.

In order to receive configuration files, but especially certificates and key, without web site support, you need to contact us in private and have a gpg public key. We can offer this service under exceptional circumstances.

Kind regards

Thank you.

I realize I am in a minority here, so I won't expect you to make major web site changes just for me.

Now that I have the certs and the key, do I need to use the config generator any more? Or can I just edit the OpenVPN config file if I want to make changes? (For example, picking a different exit.)

It seems that as long as the certs/key stuff doesn't change, I'm probably good.

Hello!

Yes, of course, you can modify, or even better duplicate, the configuration file and change the "remote" line with the entry-IP address of the server you wish to connect to. However, without the configuration generator you can't know the entry-IP address so you will have to ask us (open a ticket at your convenience).

Kind regards
