At the moment we agree with several security researchers according to whom an EV certification is not useful in any way, as also hinted by a Stanford University research in 2006. Since then there also have been interesting discussions according to which EV is just a way to earn more money, something like a marketing solution for gullible ones, not an effective security enhancement. In 90% of cases, I would agree with you but in my workplace (as in many others), they have an SSL proxy appliance which would easily snoop on data between my browser and your website. I understand that an EV is not going to stop that but when I am using chrome or firefox and see the EV green bar missing, I am notified of the fact that something is not right.
