Slow speeds and loss of internet

Dear Air team,

 

I have been using airvpn for around 8 months now with no issues except for the last 3-4 weeks. In this period, I've had no issues with logins but the connection does not seem to last more than a few minutes before speeds drop to zero and all surfing and/or downloading stops. The connection comes back up after a minute or so but you can imagine how irritating this can get if you are browsing and have to reload everything every few minutes. 

 

I did a little research and found out I hadn't updated the airvpn client nor had I changed the mode for each server. I have since done the above but with no success. The servers I normally use are in Sweden and the Netherlands. 

 

I have attached the most recent log for you consideration. I hope you can help,

which server is good to choose?

I started to use AirVPN today and I am choosing a server for dd-rt router prefferably in NL or Sweden.

I looked at https://airvpn.org/status/ and if I understood it correctly, I think eg. Corvi in NL has only about 50-100/1000 Mbit/s so it means high speed download/upload on the contrary Leonis has 200 / 100 Mbit/s which means bad connection for new user like me.

(In fact I cannot understand how it can have 200 out of only 100 anyway I think it means that is is full and overcrowded)

 

But maybe the server with more users provides more anonymity? so maybe better is Lyncis in NL which has (now) around 70 users, 300/1000 Mbit/s

 

Is somewhere some other statistics according to hours and days of the week for the whole week or month ? so that I can find server which is not overcrowded during my preferrable time of connection?

 

 

The servers I normally use are in Sweden and the Netherlands.

Your considerations are correct.

 

A server with more bandwidth than maximum available bandwidth is "bursting" (when the provider allows that; it's possible because most of our 100 Mbit/s are anyway on 1 Gbit/s or 10 Gbit/s local uplink ports).

This is a very good suggestion, actually we thought about it and in the future we might implement this feature. In the meantime, the VPN servers bandwidth is largely redundant/oversized in relation to the number of connected clients, so that you can be sure to have bandwidth redundancy on any 1 Gbit/s server 24/7 (but not on 100 Mbit/s servers, as you have seen). On every and each 1 Gbit/s server currently you can expect at least 600 Mbit/s free 24/7 (except in circumstances when a server is under a flood attack which devours bandwidth, by the way such occurrences are very rare and we normally mitigate them quickly).
