[SOLVED] asus rt-ac66u router and vpn

Please read here very carefully. DD-WRT on this router still features some fatal risks (router bricking!), so you might like to evaluate the different options that are cited in the article:

Please disregard the previous message, it pertains to another Asus model, as you correctly wrote to us in private. Apparently there are no known issues with your router and the appropriate DD-WRT Mega build with OpenVPN, but please be aware that we have not tested it and we have no direct reports for your router model.

You have to install Merlin firmware on ac66u which has openvpn client option. then follow this post, its pretty straight forward https://airvpn.org/topic/6652-airvpn-tomato-configuration-step-by-step-guide/?p=6652

I'm running an RT-AC66U using (darksprite?) dd-wrt version 21153 without issue. I looked at Merlin, but decided to go with dd-wrt since there is an actual firmware for the AC66U now. If you have questions/problems, feel free to contact me.
