Monitoring your own traffic?

Recommended Posts

Is there a tool that allows you to monitor your own traffic in a newbie friendly way?

I would like to see what would my ISP sees with both the VPN on and off.

Also would like to monitor if i have programs that send data when they shouldn't.

Kind regards

The first link is just to a question where user asks that and he is told to use the windows task manager

I'm looking for a serious program that can give as much details as possible. Anyone had any personal experience with one?

If you don't think Processor Explorer from Microsoft will do what you need, then you could look at Wireshark:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wireshark

http://www.wireshark.org/

It has been a few years since I have used this. But I believe it could capture everything coming and going on an interface. It may only work for real interfaces (actual cards) though. But if you want to see everything happening on your real native IP interface, this may do it.

But I believe you wanted something for a newbie? So this may not qualify.

Hello!

It works even for virtual interfaces like the tun/tap adapter.

Kind regards
