moda3328 0 Posted ... Hey Im a new user. purchased a 3 month subscription. After getting slow speeds from the start, I read through the forum to see others with a similar problem. Getting worried now as I have tried all ports: 53 UDP and TCP, 80 UDP and TCP, 443 UDP and TCP. With and without comodo turned on. When not connected to airvpn I get 80-90meg. But with airvpn I get just about 10meg!!! Here are my log files for UDP 443 & UDP 53 Thanks UDP 443: 15/03/2013 - 20:31 AirVPN client version: 1.8 15/03/2013 - 20:31 Reading options from C:\Users\P\AppData\Roaming\AirVPN\Air\1.0.0.0\AirVPN.xml 15/03/2013 - 20:31 OpenVPN bundle version: OpenVPN 2.3.0 15/03/2013 - 20:31 OpenVPN current version: OpenVPN 2.3.0 15/03/2013 - 20:31 Ready. 15/03/2013 - 20:31 Login... 15/03/2013 - 20:31 Login success. 15/03/2013 - 20:31 Contacting service... 15/03/2013 - 20:31 Connecting... 15/03/2013 - 20:31 OpenVPN 2.3.0 x86_64-w64-mingw32 [sSL (OpenSSL)] [LZO] [PKCS11] [eurephia] [iPv6] built on Jan 8 2013 15/03/2013 - 20:31 NOTE: OpenVPN 2.1 requires '--script-security 2' or higher to call user-defined scripts or executables 15/03/2013 - 20:31 Socket Buffers: R=[8192->8192] S=[8192->8192] 15/03/2013 - 20:31 UDPv4 link local: [undef] 15/03/2013 - 20:31 UDPv4 link remote: [AF_INET]94.229.74.90:443 15/03/2013 - 20:31 TLS: Initial packet from [AF_INET]94.229.74.90:443, sid=5935ac68 c7112b30 15/03/2013 - 20:31 VERIFY OK: depth=1, C=IT, ST=IT, L=Perugia, O=airvpn.org, CN=airvpn.org CA, emailAddress=info@airvpn.org 15/03/2013 - 20:31 VERIFY OK: nsCertType=SERVER 15/03/2013 - 20:31 VERIFY OK: depth=0, C=IT, ST=IT, L=Perugia, O=airvpn.org, CN=server, emailAddress=info@airvpn.org 15/03/2013 - 20:31 Data Channel Encrypt: Cipher 'AES-256-CBC' initialized with 256 bit key 15/03/2013 - 20:31 Data Channel Encrypt: Using 160 bit message hash 'SHA1' for HMAC authentication 15/03/2013 - 20:31 Data Channel Decrypt: Cipher 'AES-256-CBC' initialized with 256 bit key 15/03/2013 - 20:31 Data Channel Decrypt: Using 160 bit message hash 'SHA1' for HMAC authentication 15/03/2013 - 20:31 Control Channel: TLSv1, cipher TLSv1/SSLv3 DHE-RSA-AES256-SHA, 2048 bit RSA 15/03/2013 - 20:31 [server] Peer Connection Initiated with [AF_INET]94.229.74.90:443 15/03/2013 - 20:31 SENT CONTROL [server]: 'PUSH_REQUEST' (status=1) 15/03/2013 - 20:31 PUSH: Received control message: 'PUSH_REPLY,redirect-gateway def1,dhcp-option DNS 10.4.0.1,comp-lzo no,route 10.4.0.1,topology net30,ping 10,ping-restart 60,ifconfig 10.4.15.218 10.4.15.217' 15/03/2013 - 20:31 OPTIONS IMPORT: timers and/or timeouts modified 15/03/2013 - 20:31 OPTIONS IMPORT: LZO parms modified 15/03/2013 - 20:31 OPTIONS IMPORT: --ifconfig/up options modified 15/03/2013 - 20:31 OPTIONS IMPORT: route options modified 15/03/2013 - 20:31 OPTIONS IMPORT: --ip-win32 and/or --dhcp-option options modified 15/03/2013 - 20:31 do_ifconfig, tt->ipv6=0, tt->did_ifconfig_ipv6_setup=0 15/03/2013 - 20:31 open_tun, tt->ipv6=0 15/03/2013 - 20:31 TAP-WIN32 device [Local Area Connection 2] opened: \\.\Global\{0A9CE770-027C-409A-8E1E-921A187B9FFD}.tap 15/03/2013 - 20:31 TAP-Windows Driver Version 9.9 15/03/2013 - 20:31 Notified TAP-Windows driver to set a DHCP IP/netmask of 10.4.15.218/255.255.255.252 on interface {0A9CE770-027C-409A-8E1E-921A187B9FFD} [DHCP-serv: 10.4.15.217, lease-time: 31536000] 15/03/2013 - 20:31 Successful ARP Flush on interface [31] {0A9CE770-027C-409A-8E1E-921A187B9FFD} 15/03/2013 - 20:31 TEST ROUTES: 2/2 succeeded len=1 ret=1 a=0 u/d=up 15/03/2013 - 20:31 C:\Windows\system32\route.exe ADD 94.229.74.90 MASK 255.255.255.255 192.168.1.1 15/03/2013 - 20:31 ROUTE: CreateIpForwardEntry succeeded with dwForwardMetric1=20 and dwForwardType=4 15/03/2013 - 20:31 Route addition via IPAPI succeeded [adaptive] 15/03/2013 - 20:31 C:\Windows\system32\route.exe ADD 0.0.0.0 MASK 128.0.0.0 10.4.15.217 15/03/2013 - 20:31 ROUTE: CreateIpForwardEntry succeeded with dwForwardMetric1=30 and dwForwardType=4 15/03/2013 - 20:31 Route addition via IPAPI succeeded [adaptive] 15/03/2013 - 20:31 C:\Windows\system32\route.exe ADD 128.0.0.0 MASK 128.0.0.0 10.4.15.217 15/03/2013 - 20:31 ROUTE: CreateIpForwardEntry succeeded with dwForwardMetric1=30 and dwForwardType=4 15/03/2013 - 20:31 Route addition via IPAPI succeeded [adaptive] 15/03/2013 - 20:31 C:\Windows\system32\route.exe ADD 10.4.0.1 MASK 255.255.255.255 10.4.15.217 15/03/2013 - 20:31 ROUTE: CreateIpForwardEntry succeeded with dwForwardMetric1=30 and dwForwardType=4 15/03/2013 - 20:31 Route addition via IPAPI succeeded [adaptive] 15/03/2013 - 20:31 Initialization Sequence Completed 15/03/2013 - 20:31 Starting Management Interface... 15/03/2013 - 20:31 Checking... 15/03/2013 - 20:32 Retrieve statistics... 15/03/2013 - 20:32 Connected. Staff 9972 Posted ... Hello! The logs do not show any problem. Please try also different servers (in the logs you tried only one) in order to determine those which can give you the best performance. If you get exactly 10 Mbit/s on all servers, all ports and all protocols then your ISP caps your OpenVPN connections at exactly 10 Mbit/s. Kind regards Quote Share this post Link to post

I forgot to mention I don't use comodo, was meant to say Online Armor. If there is a cap in place is there anyway around it?? Thanks Quote Share this post Link to post

Having read a few forums it is a bit hit and miss with this isp virgin in u.k. Anyone else from the u.k have had similar problem to mine? Also to admin, if there is no solution. Can i get a refund??? ( I will try my best to find solution as I really want to get a VPN sorted) Thanks Again Quote Share this post Link to post

( I will try my best to find solution as I really want to get a VPN sorted)Thanks AgainHello!Of course you can!Please feel free to let us know about Virgin, we are aware that there are problems with Virgin "superhub" and OpenVPN, normally customers are not able to beat 35 Mbit/s while using OpenVPN and this was for sure a Virgin problem (see Virgin support forums, there are dozens and dozens of customers complaining about it).Kind regards Quote Share this post Link to post
moda3328 0 Posted ... Are there any other solutions to getting the speeds of my connection to hit a reasonable level? I have searched a few forums and I do not believe it is the ISP, as there are others who use VPNs on the same ISP with not issue with their speed, Would port forwarding work? I would rather stay with AirVPN as the reviews tend to be great and you (admins) reply very quickly and service seems to be ghanksreat! Thanks Quote Share this post Link to post
FPyro 2 Posted ... Take your computer to different locations and test there. When I move to west germany/Netherlands, my connection 100Mbit/s get maxed out up to 90%. From south germany it's about 20-30% up to 50Mit/s rarely. Your traffic goes through many servers I imagine, so there's bound to be a bottleneck somewhere. Maybe you're just unlucky that your nearest Air server is too far away. Quote Share this post Link to post

Maybe you're just unlucky that your nearest Air server is too far away. We are you located? As my closest servers are the U.K ones. Which keep giving me max download of 10meg as do most others I have tested in netherlands and germany!! I have spoken to two people who also have my ISP and the VPNs they use can reach about 80% line speed. Quote Share this post Link to post

primary101 0 Posted ... Hi moda3328 Do you have one of the Superhubs? I am on virgin and was having the same problems with speed. Found that it was the "Super" hub causing issues so set it to Modem mode and plugged in an old router I had lying around. Getting close enough to my normal speeds now. Thanks I'm on the 60Mb package. and I normally get that. With the VPN I end up getting about 50Mb when selecting UK servers. Only tested a couple of days though as I am new to AirVPN to Quote Share this post Link to post
