Hello. I did everything in this walkthrough and it seemed to work great, did just as it's schemed, but once connected to the server i could then only access this single site(guess because of the hosts file), but not google or anything else. But when i loocked in the comodo log i could see two or so adresses from 192.168.0.2 to some other adresses(guess it was googles) being blocked. What do i do now? Do i need to se up something with proxies or more rules in comodo?? And also even as i can connect to this here page it still says in the connection bar at the bottom that i am 'not connected'.. What do i do Admin, what do i do?? Oh yes, just another thing, how do i make firefox configured to work over the tor network, i mean i cant install the Torbutton or anything else.. How do i use this comodo setup and at the same time be able to connect over tor, is it as easy as just add some proxy in firefox, i am really a huge noob on computers in general, its so frustating! The as it is now i must first start the bundle TOR-browser AND THEN connect to the Air-server for it to be able to connect over TOR, what i rather would like it to be is for me to either be able to connect the client at any time to tor or to be able to start firefox and have that browser connect to the TOR network, dont see no reason to fiddle with to browsers. Is there perhaps something i can do with the DNS's?? Help a noob out!

Hello!

It might be a DNS issue: a possible explanation is that your system constantly try to send out DNS queries out of the tunnel and Comodo blocks them (correctly). If it's the problem, you should be able to solve it by setting 10.4.0.1 as primary (preferred) DNS IP address in your physical network interface.

This is yet another problem, please send us your client logs just after it happens.

Yes, in order to connect over TOR over OpenVPN, first connect to an Air server, then use a browser configured to connect to TOR. Aurora, a customized Firefox included in the TOR Browser Bundle by TOR Project, is highly recommended. It is already configured to run over TOR and includes some very useful security features.

I did this but it didnt resolve the issue of only being able to connect to this site however(the physical network, NOT the TAP that is), i forgot to see if it said "Connected" or "Not connected" underneath dough, but maybe it didnt matter?..

This is yet another problem, please send us your client logs just after it happens.

HERE IS A BIT OF THE COMODO LOG, if you can cope with it: http://shortText.com/Kobzod

Aha, so this will then make me get your ip?? I thought i was to use a browser not configured for TOR for it to be a TOR-VPN connection, SHOULD I CHANGE IN THE TOR BROWSER SETTINGS FOR PROXIES??.. But besides i cant connect to AirVPN server if not i have an established connection on the TOR browser FIRST and then i just get connected to the TOR only, as you said before(should this be?) when i have my air client configured to TOR proxy. Is what you're saying that i should use the TOR broiwser for surfing the net with your TOR-AirVPN established, but then i just get the TOR end-node IP adress, and also i cant connect to the tor browser when i have the comodo firewall activated with your rule scheme on it, so then i as for now cant use a tor-vpn connection..

There are various problems, essentially caused by the fact that the TUN/TAP adapter does not come up. Can you please try to uninstall OpenVPN and upgrade to OpenVPN 2.3.0? When you re-install please make sure that you authorize the installation of any driver.

Packages for Windows are available here:

https://airvpn.org/windows

About OpenVPN over TOR: you must NOT configure a browser (or any other application) to connect to TOR.

About TOR over OpenVPN: you must use a browser (or any other application) configured to connect to TOR.

Seems strange to me, as it works just not with the comodo on.

About OpenVPN over TOR: you must NOT configure a browser (or any other application) to connect to TOR.

About TOR over OpenVPN: you must use a browser (or any other application) configured to connect to TOR.

Ok i see.. Guess both these alternativs are good in a way, since in the second alternative i am still connected to the Air-vpn aswell, right?

But i guess its the former alternativ most are using, and what you are saying is that if i connect Air with the TOR-proxy 9050 then i am simply going through the TOR network before reaching the VPN server entry, but why cant i connect the client over TOR without first having to connect to the TOR BUNDLE? What you meant when you said use Aurora was to use Aurora without the TOR PROXY in settings, right? For if i simply use the tool panel to "START TOR" in the utility of TOR BROWSER i am using the Aurora with config to connect to TOR, this is right.. But why not use Fire fox, lets say i want to check some flash video on Youtube?? THen my wondering was if there is anyway to connect with Air client withut having to first connect the Tor BUNDLE?..

Anyway, i might get this comodo to run eventually, but im so far out from this whole networking-matter and not so good with understanding things so i just have to see. No biggie, it would just be nice to have that feature..

Thanks anyhow! You are the best damn support i have encountered.. And thanks for showing me what a sweet program comodo was, in my former firewall i couldnt even make things like that. I am pleased with your vpn-service in overall.

Hm, i did reinstall the openvpn from your package, but it didnt change the problem. But here is the latest log from my connection, you can probably see if its the same problem: 2013-03-17 - 19:29 AirVPN client version: 1,8

Hello!

The problems is the same.

First, please try a Winsock and stack reset. Launch a command prompt with administrator privileges and type the following commands:

Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults:

netsh winsock reset catalog

Reset IPv4 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults:

netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log

After the above commands please reboot your system.

If the above does not solve the problem, can you please make sure that:

- no programs (especially antivirus and firewall) are interfering with airvpn.exe, openvpn.exe and tap09*.sys (the driver for the tun/tap interface)

- the Air client can elevate to administrator privileges

- OpenVPN can elevate to administrator privileges

- the DHCP *client* service is running

Ok i see.. Guess both these alternativs are good in a way, since in the second alternative i am still connected to the Air-vpn aswell, right?

Yes.

The differences:

- with TOR over Air our servers can see your real IP address but not your traffic. TOR nodes can see your traffic (if unencrypted end-to-end). The applications that you wish to tunnel over TOR over Air must be configured to connect to the TOR proxy. Your system is on the Internet with the TOR exit-node IP address.

- with Air over TOR our servers can see your traffic (if unencrypted end-to-end) but not your real IP address. TOR nodes can't see your traffic (even if unencrypted end-to-end). All the applications connect transparently over OpenVPN over TOR, except those specifically configured to connect to the same TOR proxy used by OpenVPN. Your system is visible on the Internet with the Air VPN server exit-IP address.

Aurora is a customized Firefox. It is pre-configured to connect over TOR, so you must NOT use it to browse if you wish to connect over Air over TOR. Aurora is included in the TOR Browser Bundle and must anyway run (shutting it down will close the proxy too). Use it if you wish TOR over Air, after OpenVPN has established a connection.

Thanks anyhow! You are the best damn support i have encountered.. And thanks for showing me what a sweet program comodo was, in my former firewall i couldnt even make things like that. I am pleased with your vpn-service in overall.

Thanks!

Kind regards

Ok...

Im fairly sure no other program is running on the internet connection except comodo, but if i check the 'TCPview' program shouldnt i be able to see that there?

- the Air client can elevate to administrator privileges

Ok, is there any way to valiate that it has that 'ability' or what do you mean, i can right click on the exe and chose mark the square; Start as administator, and if i check in the security tab it shows allow on everything except special permissions on the group name; Everyone, Is this it, this you mean, or must i check it more thurough in some system or reg config? I will mark them as run as administrator now..

- the DHCP *client* service is running

A made this rule for comodo firewall as it said, as i just thought my router had this service, but now when i loon in on the router settings i see that no damn DHCP is even mentioned in those menus.. And i dont even clearly knows what DHSC are anyway, so.. But could this be an issue?

OT: Another thing, does it matter if i have the IPv6 enabled in network adapters, i think i saw something in comodo disabling IPv6.. Whats the deal about disabling that, i dont need to use it right?

But i will try to reset that WINSOCK thing.. Do it make any matter if i would do this while the network is online or offline or im making any internet connecting?

Is what youre saying, that the TAP doesnt even start at all at connecting? But then how come i can connect to the server in Switzerland and that it works without comodo, i mean what is the difference made by the firewall rules? I sure not understadn how the whle scheme of that firewall Only-vpn looks, but i guess the problem should be solvable in some way right, since it generally works, right?

Maybe i'll be back tomorrow and continue asking stuff, but i think im generally filled in on te most of it.. But unless you dont want to be bothered with all kind of tedious questions from a complete noob, then i may perhaps continue to inquire, i dont want to take up someones valuable time.. But maybe this reinstall thing will make this birdie fly..

The thing about Air over tor means in other words that i just have to live with running the Tor browser at the same time, that just fine, its just me who is uneccesarily tidy when it comes to applications on deck i guess, so running those both browsers with firefox non-TOR and the TOR-BUNDLE in becomes almost like a kind of 'X' in AIR-TOR CONNECTIVITY then, right?

@wazoo

Do you mean that the problem does not occur when Comodo is disabled? If so, there's something wrong in Comodo rules, please feel free to send us a screenshot of the global rules and network zones. Also, please check that the application rules are not blocking anything relevant.

About resetting Winsock and the TCP/IP stack, it will reset your connections. Perform it when you don't mind to lose your established connections. Don't forget to reboot after the reset. Finally try again to connect to the VPN.

I made a screenshot of the comodo: http://i50.tinypic.com/1603on8.jpg

Cant really see anything differently made than the instructions my self dough.

But i guess it should be the comodo rules it falls on, since it works if i just turn it of, seems logic even in my brain..

BUT, could it not be because of ANYTHING else?.. Maybe its something more internal in my windows, or maybe it just dont work that way, either way i dont know about it.. Always grateful for great help, thanks again!

Hello!

Unfortunately, against our guide recommendations, you renamed the rules, so it's impossible to see what they really state.

If the rules are correct and your hosts file has been edited according to the guide, you must be able to connect to Virginis ONLY and you must have no connectivity when disconnected from Virginis.

If the problem is related to the TCP/IP stack and/or to Winsock (a not-so-rare situation with Windows, as we can see from support requests), a reset as suggested before should solve the problem.

Kind regards

OK. I got it running now.. But just one more thing, i cant get it to work on TOR, is it any rules to able the TOR through the firewall of Comodo? Or is such a thing something to be made in the hosts file?.. Here is two logs from Air client, the first is trying to connect with Air configed to TOR proxy and the second is with disabled Comodo firewall, connected to TOR and then being disconnected as the Comodo firewall is turned back on:
