poeptiquncvwy 0 Posted ... Hi, I need a bit of help: I installed ZeroTier (a closed network VPN) and Eddie decided to use its new adapter and thus stopped connecting. In Settings, Networking, I put in "Interface used for connection" the right one, but I see in the logs that Eddie continues to add its routes to ZeroTier: 2026.09.07 23:00:49 - Routes, add 213.152.161.27/32 for interface "ZeroTier". There are other settings that I need to change? Thank you. Quote Share this post Link to post
Tech Jedi Alex 1581 Posted ... Interface used for connection is the setting over which interface the VPN connection will be established. It must be one with an uplink; in a typical PC setup these will be physical network interfaces like ethernet and wireless. This is not what you need; leave it on Automatic. In Eddie Preferences > Networking, there is the setting VPN interface name. Enter eddie in there, and Eddie will choose that interface to assign the internal VPN address to (or, rather, the VPN software will). poeptiquncvwy 0 Posted ... Thank you for your reply. I understand that, and it works if I uninstall ZeroTier. When I install ZeroTier instead, it creates some additional interfaces and Eddie, in automatic mode, choose (wrongly) to use them. I'm trying to force Eddie to use the previous interfaces (i.e. "Ethernet") but even if I set it in "Interface used for connection", I see in the logs Eddie adding the routes to the ZeroTier interfaces (meaning it's still trying to use them and not what I said). VPN interface name is blank, so it defaults to "Eddie". Quote Share this post Link to post

This is also a solution, but maybe you still need ZeroTier, so I didn't suggest it. 22 hours ago, poeptiquncvwy said: When I install ZeroTier instead, it creates some additional interfaces and Eddie, in automatic mode, choose (wrongly) to use them. It forces Eddie to use its own interface and not one of the other VPN-like interfaces. And, as written, Interface used for connection only controls over which interface the connection to the server is established, not which interface the VPN address is assigned. poeptiquncvwy 0 Posted ... (edited) Hello, moving to the other thread was done exactly to avoid pollution as it's the exact same problem, but it's your call. The workaround you propose doesn't work. With ZeroTier installed, my network adapter list is this: My settings are these (I tried also "eddie" and "Eddie 1"): but Eddie does this: and fails to connect. Uninstalling ZeroTier (not a solution, but a test) makes Eddie revert to good behavior: and it connects nicely. Thank you. Edited ... by poeptiquncvwy Quote Share this post Link to post

Thank you for the report, it will be put under the devs' attention. Your settings look correct. The workaround suggested by @Tech Jedi Alex can't work, as it pertains to the virtual network interface to be used for the tunnel, while here the problem seems that Eddie picks the wrong interface for the connection even when you explicitly tell it to use another one (Ethernet).
