ANSWERED DNS-Leaks with latest version Eddie

Recommended Posts

Hello at all. Does anybody know why I have DNS leaks with the latest version of Eddie (2.26.2)? Ipleak.net shows AIR DNS-servers and the real from my ISP.  When I switch to previous version 2.24.6 no leak does appear.

I had the same problem. I'm on Windows 11. I updated Eddie to 2.26.2, and started getting DNS leaks, even though Network Lock was enabled. I uninstalled Eddie, deleted any relevant directories that I could find, and reinstalled version 2.26.2, but the problem persisted. So I downgraded to 2.24.6, and the DNS leaks have stopped.

I had the same problem on Windows 11.  I found that if you go to the DNS tab in Eddie and go to the Microsoft Windows Only section.  Turn on the "Force all network interfaces for DNS" selection.  This will cure the problem.  Previous versions of Eddie did not need to have this turned on.

Seconding this. This does the trick if you don't wanna reinstall 2.24.6. Notice the leak while mid torrent. Fortunately IP was still masked and research said I should be fine but it was not fun sorting this out. Didn't notice at first cause it would randomly just flare long after my usual testing period and seemed related to my web browser and not my torrent client at least.

MS Windows users who upgraded Eddie to 2.26.2 may have no idea they may be leaking DNS. I ran an online DNS check today on a wi-fi connected laptop to find my Win 11 Pro system using Eddie was leaking my provider's DNS; apparently for several days before it was discovered. Unfortunately, I didn't check for a leak when I upgraded but trusted AirVPN to have fully tested this version before releasing it to public. AirVPN needs to get a patched version out soon; possibly resolved by hard coding the " Force all network interfaces for DNS" in the Windows only section to be checked at install.
