CAN'T SEED (QBTORRENT + MAC OS)

Recommended Posts

Hi, I'm new with AirVPN.

My config :
- MacOS up-to-date
- Eddie or WireGuard
- Qbtorrent up-to-date

My problem :
- I can download with QBtorrent but I can't seed
- I can see peers connect and disconnect immédiatly
- Before QBtorrent, I had the same issue with Tansmission (so, it seems the probelm does not come from the P2P software ?)

My settings (see below):
- Port forwarding OK
- QBTorrent setings : I think I followed recommandations

EDIT : Just after I posted, I saw a very low upload with 1 file from 1 tracker. It still runs but with <10KiB/s speed (even if I unchecked speed limit)
Can the problem come from (private) trackers ?

EDIT 2 : this little upload does not work anymore

What about trying with a heavily leeched torrent on open trackers ?
In Statistics, how many Connected peers do you have ?
You should try without Connection Limits.

Ok, I tried with an Ubuntu ISO. It began to upload  but decreased from a few KB to zero in less than one minute. And then : no upload (at this time : 2 peers/20 connected)

0, sometimes 1 or 2... Cf. screenshot below

I tried that. The same.

I had the same issue (with Eddie and MacOS Tahoe 26.6). As advised by AirVPN team on another thread, the MTU setting (Eddie/Settings/Wireguard) lowered to 1280 has fixed the problem for me. It's also important to stick to a couple of servers when you found a good one (depending of your location, ISP provider, etc... ) regarding the torrent seeding rate.

Well, it changed quite nothing. Sometimes, 1 seed (mainly a public torrent) but speed is betwen 1 and 10 kB/s for a dozen of clients (average : about 4 kB/s)

With DHT PeX enabled private trackers "block and flagg". And where did you bind the software to? Did you create a separate firewall rule to force the traffic over the tunnel?

All private trackers show this (cf. screnshot). I don't know what that means 😅

In Mac OS firewall, incoming connections are allowed for QBitTorrent.

There you go. That means its not working...:)

And... how could I fix it ? 🫣
Below a screenshot with a public tracker... a lot of "unreachable" 😵💫

Disable DHT PeX LSD. Test it and see if it works with those options disabled. And bind Qbit to the VPN tunnel.

Sorry, I am not a geek, I don't understand that 😬

From a tracker perspective the data flow is correct. For IP v4 at least. v6 address looks blocked to me.

Until I see what is allowed I can't tell you what to fix or how. Post a picture of the allowed and blocked.

Got it. But Mac OS firewall does not provide detailed rules. Just the settings "incoming connection allowed for QbitTorrent"
So, I switched it off. But after reboot, same situation, same issue.

Oh...you'll need a third-party firewall if you need to monitor or restrict which applications send data to the internet.
What other firewall do you have in your arsenal?

Install LuLu firewall and get to know it. The builtin firewall only blocks incoming traffic, while LuLu manages your outgoing traffic. The rest is up to you. @Staff or one of the moderators will have to assist you going further.

Here are the rules from Lulu (in french) for General, Wiregard and QB. Should I look for something else ?
I don't see any rule with a "block" setting.

OK up ! Lulu is installed. I found nothing "blocked". I tried different servers in different countries, I changed MTU settings, I tried Eddie, WireGuard, and even OpenVPN...
Nothing works.
What else could I check ?
