ego.nymous 0 Posted ... After updating to the latest version, I can only achieve a tenth of the normal speed - barely 10mb/s. The highest server speed rating is also only 2 stars instead of the usual 5 stars. I never changed anything in the configuration. Is there anything I need to bear in mind with the new version? Eddie 2.24.6 connects over WireGuard by default, whereas all the previous stable versions by default launched OpenVPN 2. Please try to set virtual network interface MTU to 1280 bytes. You can do it in Eddie's "Preferences" > "WireGuard" window. Re-start the connection to apply the change and check whether performance improves. If it does not improve, try to go back to OpenVPN. You can do it in Eddie's "Preferences" > "Protocols" window. Kind regards Quote Share this post Link to post
ego.nymous 0 Posted ... Thanks for the quick response. Unfortunately, neither of those worked. I found an old 2.16 version, and the speed is much faster with that one. Any other advice on what I could try? KR Quote Share this post Link to post

ego.nymous 0 Posted ... (edited) Update, almost one year later: Unfortunately, I am facing essentially the same problem again. After my previous issue I reverted to the old Eddie version, which worked very well for me until recently. I could sort servers by Speed and usually had several servers with high star ratings that also delivered good real-world speeds. A few days ago this changed suddenly. The old version started showing only a very small number of usable/high-rated servers, so I upgraded to Eddie 2.26.2. Unfortunately, the current version shows a very similar problem: with Scoring Rule = Speed, only a handful of servers receive more than 1-2 stars, while many servers receive 0 stars. The star rating currently does not correlate reliably with actual throughput. For example, I have measured some 0-star servers at around 180-200+ Mbit/s, while other servers with better ratings were much slower. With Scoring Rule = Latency, I immediately get many 5-star servers, but those are not necessarily fast either. I have already tested: WireGuard MTU 1280 MTU 1320 Omit/automatic MTU a completely fresh Eddie profile restoring my previous settings several different servers and repeated tests OpenVPN, which is significantly slower for me WireGuard itself can still reach 200+ Mbit/s, so the main problem is not a general WireGuard speed limitation. The problem is that I can no longer use Eddie's Speed scoring to identify fast servers before connecting, whereas this worked very reliably for me before. Has anything changed in the Speed scoring logic or in the data/measurements used for the server scores since my original report? At this moment there isn't even a single 2-star server, yet Baiduri, currently rated at about 1 star, reaches 200 Mbit/s. KR Edited ... by ego.nymous Quote Share this post Link to post
