Did I do everything correctly?

Recommended Posts

Hi, Airvpn is my first vpn. I am trying to setup airvpn to work with utorrent as securely as possible with no leaks. I have tried to read a lot on this forum and follow all the advice. Did I do everything right? I am using Windows 7 sp1 64bit. Here is what I did:

1. First, following blimpy I disabled TCPIP6 and Teredo Tunneling in Device Manager.

2. I disabled Windows firewall and installed Comodo v5.12.256

3. I set up the all the Global rules mentioned on this forum in Comodo (see attached image settings.jpg, to see if it looks ok)

4. I also added (see same image) some application rules for utorrent so that if I am not logged into airvpn then utorrent will not work at all.

(Basically it was 2 rules: [1] Allow IP In/Out from IP in 10.4.0.0 - 10.9.255.255 and [2] Block In/Out from IP Not in 10.4.0.0 - 10.9.255.255)

I hope those rules were done right.

5. I setup Remote port forwarding in the members area, its high number though... is that ok? It's like greater than 54000... local port is 53...

6. I tested my webbroswer with http://whatismyipaddress.com/ and my ip was different so airvpn seems to be working.

7. I did a leak test with http://www.dnsleaktest.com/ and the only thing that comes up is google stuff in Germany, which is not where I am.

8. I checked my torrent ip with http://checkmytorrentip.com/ and my ip was different so airvpn seems to be working.

9. I started to download a linux iso file (700 megabytes) with utorrent and it was working; then I disconnected from airvpn and it stopped downloading.

So, did I do everything correctly? Is there other stuff I should do or am I pretty secure now?

Thanks for you help!

Hi, I tried to post this last night and was not sure if it worked or not, so I tried again. Sorry if that was a mistake (double posting). Anyway, it is still not visible so I am not certain if some of my content is not allowed?

Any way I am loving Airvpn but could use some help.

Hello!

Excellent! Everything you did is correct and the tests you have performed confirm that you are protected against any leak.

The uTorrent application rules are superfluous but you can keep them, they do no harm (but see below).

As a side note, you might like to disable logging for the "Allow" rule in the uTorrent application rules in order not to overload Comodo logging which in some cases might slow down your system slightly.

Kind regards
