Improper Eddie Shutdown on macOS

Recommended Posts

Posted ... (edited)

My computer shutdown for an automatic update while I was connected with Network Lock enabled. Since the update, no connections appear to be entering or exiting the machine.

When connecting to a server, the log shows the Authorization check fails due to timeout, the connection proceeds with Wireguard, but ultimately restarts.

How do I “reset” network lock?

Edit: what I think I’m asking for specifically is how to change the pertinent DNS settings.  When I do scutil -- dns I see only one resolver set to localhost, so obviously I can’t reach the net.

I’ve tried to manually overwrite the dns settings.

I’m on macOS and Eddie v2.24.6.

Hello!

For a quick discernment test please disable the firewall. You can turn off the firewall from the System Settings -> Network -> Firewall option. If the problem gets resolved then you know that it is related to the current firewall rules. In this case, please see also:
https://support.apple.com/guide/mac-help/change-firewall-settings-on-mac-mh11783/mac

If the problem doesn't get resolved, DNS settings must be checked as well. Please see here:

Thank you for replying, but disabling Firewall did not work. I’ve already tried configuring DNS manually. Do you have any other steps for me to try? I have the impression there’s something Eddie is doing to persistently change my DNS to localhost.

Hello!

If Eddie is not running, system DNS addresses are correctly set and the firewall is disabled, then the connection inability must have a completely different cause and Eddie has nothing to do with it.

Kind regards
