fawkesguy 0 Posted ... Hello, Just signed up the other day and I'm impressed with AirVPN's policies and community. Here's my situation - I'm running AirVPN on my DD-WRT router (Netgear WNDR4000) so all devices on my network are using the VPN. Due to encryption overhead, I'm getting max download speeds of around 5Mbps. Without VPN it's about 52Mbps. To be honest, for email, surfing and general use, I'm OK with the massive decrease in speed. However, I'd like more speed for streaming Netflix (and other content) to my Blu-ray player and Xbox. Is it possible in DD-WRT to specify that those two devices not use the VPN? If so, is there a relatively simple way to configure that? I'm not the most tech-savvy user, sorry to say. A second idea - is there a way to use a different wireless router for just those two devices to connect to the Internet without going through the VPN? I happen to have an Apple Airport Extreme sitting around and if there's any way I could just create a 2nd wireless network for my Blu-ray player and Xbox to bypass the VPN that would be great. Hope these questions make sense and sorry I'm such a n00b. :-) Thanks Guy Quote Share this post Link to post
Staff 9972 Posted ... Hello! Yes, DD-WRT supports Policy Based Routing with multiple routing tables. If you're curious, start from here to get an idea: http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Policy_Based_Routing and then have a look here: http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/OpenVPN So you might say, for example, that 192.168.1.101 uses the tunnel, while 192.168.1.102 does not. fawkesguy 0 Posted ... Hi, Yes, I've seen those links before. I was hoping someone might be able to give me an easier step by step or maybe find a different want of explaining it. Also, if someone could tell me if my second idea is possible that would be great. Thanks Guy Quote Share this post Link to post
