localbitcoins.com with cash in hand. Paypal is the ABSOLUTE WORST service for privacy. So if that's your main concern, steer well clear of them. Plus, any Bitcoin-to-Paypal transactions are a complete ripoff, running close to 8% per transaction. I would shoot myself if I were ever forced to use it. Pretty much defeats the purpose of Bitcoins.

MtGox processes the most amount of BTC transactions. Only problem with them is you'll have to leave a paper trail and non-anonymous registration IS required to exchange currency. I've also heard from someone I know and have traded with that it took him weeks to withdraw his money from MtGox. This is a very large trader, mind you, but that should raise some red flags. I would definitely NOT do business with that exchange before trying a number of others first. As far as exchanges go, BTC-E (btc-e.com) is good. But I still strongly recommend a cash-in-hand transaction via localbitcoins.com for maximum anonymity.

@Baraka: I don't have any experiences with localbitcoins.com. How does that work? Assuming I meet with someone who sells bitcoins on a railway station. How does the exchange take place? I will give him the money but how and when he will transfer the bitcoins?

cheers,

Mich

It takes less than 30 minutes to change CASH for bitcoins. Then use a BTC wallet payment to here without any hitches at all. I'ld say its about as perfectly anonymous as it gets. Lots of great ways for creating a one time use wallet. Mine was to be a one time use situation just for this payment.

hXXps://blockchain.info/wallet/login

1. Log in to the link above using a secure VPN or anonymous connection. In other words don't lose the anonymity by using your hard line IP. Duhhhh!!

2. Create a wallet and then open it up.

3. Click on the cash button on the right. Select the amount and viola you can print out a ticket to take to a local vendor (they are everywhere here in the USA). This "ticket" simply gives the account info so that the cash deposit will go directly to your wallet in the form of Bitcoins. Simple as can be.

4. Walk in and deposit the cash and by the time you get home the Bitcoins will be in your cyber wallet.

5. Come back here and select your plan. The transfer took seconds and I was up and running!!

There is nothing magic about the link because as mentioned BTC is everywhere. I found the site to be safe and here in the states cash stations are everywhere. Walmart, 711, CVS, etccc all accept these cash tickets.

Cost is 3-4 dollars use and that is a great trade for anonymity. Slick payment system on this end as well. Good job to the Admin's that took the time to set this up for us!!!!!!!!!!!!

localbitcoins.com works by you registering an account with your e-mail address (you could use a tormail.org address). You can also enter in your cellphone SMS number, if you want. That allows you to see when your funds have been released by the BTC seller.

Once you've done that and have found someone who will trade with you, you set up a meeting. I suggest a Starbucks close to you two. Upon meeting, cancel the transaction you used to arrange your meeting. Then immediately re-open another, so your trade is at the current market price. Allow the seller to inspect your cash, but don't hand it over until the transaction is done.

He sets the transaction in motion by transferring the BTC to the temporary address associated with your localbitcoins.com account. Then you have to wait for 3 verifications to complete, which takes a half hour (10 minutes per verification). At least that's what it is for $100. For $1000+, you may have to wait for 5 or 6 verifications. Alternately, if the seller is familiar with the system, they can transfer the BTC beforehand, meet with you, then release the funds once your cash is in hand. No waiting. But that requires trust in the localbitcoins.com system, which won't be the case if they haven't used it before.

Once the verifications are complete, the funds are available on the localbitcoins.com system, but they must be released before they're actually in your account. The seller must release the funds, at which point you'll receive a text message from the localbitcoins.com system that the transaction has been completed, which includes a verification code. Or, if you opt out of using your cell, you can just check the blockchain that the BTC has been transferred to your localbitcoins.com temporary address, and view your localbitcoins.com account as well to eyeball your balance. That's it.

I strongly recommend going through the system and paying the miniscule system transaction fee of 1%, then leaving feedback for the seller and having him do the same with you. This is a service that, just like Ebay, is only as valuable as the feedback and the actual participation in the system. Plus, you get to meet some very cool people by doing it this way, rather than through a faceless- and trackable- bank transfer.

By the way, BTC is up about 35% over the past month! Absolutely astounding!!!

I created an account on

https://www.bitcoin.de

We don't accept Paysafecard. We accept Liberty Reserve, Bitcoin and PayPal.

You can pay any amount you wish with Bitcoin on each transaction, you don't have to transfer all the BTC in your account on any given transaction, obviously.

To avoid international transaction fees you should try to find a local seller.

https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Buying_bitcoins

There is no need to be anonymous when buying Bitcoins. You make Bitcoin anonymous by using a mixer.

Blockchain

https://blockchain.info/wallet/send-anonymously

Bitcoin Fog

http://www.bitcoinfog.com/

http://fogcore5n3ov3tui.onion/

cleanbit

http://www.cleanbit.org/

CoinFog

BitMix

Bitcoin Laundry

http://4uzco5w5qmklhzzn.onion/

Bitcoin Cleaner

http://vrzkfkipi5idnc43.onion/

OnionBC

With the exception of Blockchain any of these could be a scam. If you are unwilling to take a small monetary risk then don't use them.

Thank you for these links, I will use it

originally I planned to buy some BTC for cash from somebody who I will find on localbitcoins.com/ and let send all these BTC to my wallet which I made through anonymizer. But some BTC laundry cannot harm anonymity I think.

But if only I have more time!.... Yesterday I found nice portable OS Liberte Linux and lovely Tails 0.16 :cheer: which I am installing on my flash drives unfortunately 2 flashdrives died during data archieving and I spent the whole 2 days retrieving the data.... taking care of anonymity (which cannot be reached in fact, it is only ideal in our world I think) costs so much time... because you cannot rely on anybody else but you and of course you yourself are the biggest enemy because of your laziness and indolence to simplify processes which you set in the beginning.

I am thinking of VPN over VPN but I am afraid of high latency ("ping") and slow download which would cost me only more money (which is funnny, I pay for fast internet but then I pay again VPN which makes connection slower. I must have a job to pay all these things which make me happy but boring job and all these complicated things make me unhappy simoultaneously :woohoo: I apologize for this philosophy which is not very original nor innovative...

Hello!

Just an additional consideration on Bitcoin from an USA lawyer:

https://twitter.com/fightcopytrolls/status/300801857910095873

Kind regards

Is that 1month of 100% uptime mining? With the GPU at max usage?

Whilst my PC is on 24/7, it being on 24/7 AND being at 100% usage is quite a difference in power draw. I tried mining for a bit (GTX 670s in SLI) and it got annoying as I had to switch it off when i wanted to do something a bit power intensive.

I think it isn't worth it, personally. I just purchased my bitcoins from https://bitbargain.co.uk/

Hello

I changed finally some BTC from someone who I found on localbitcoin, but unfortunately once I logged on into my BTCvallet on https://blockchain.info/wallet/ without anonymous connection. So in case they the web site with wallet logged users, now they have my IP. I think https://blockchain.info is in UK, so I guess they log as much as they can.....

But how safe is to launder btc eg on http://www.cleanbit.org/ and let send the money to https://instawallet.org ??

I still did not understand exactly how btc can be traced - eg wouldnot it be even worse to launder btc because then it will be mixed together with some btc from people I would not better mention here?

I don't know why anyone would use Blockchain to store their coins- especially when they want to remain anonymous. Blockchain doesn't even allow for a secure sockets connection.

I use Blockchain to only confirm that transactions have properly appeared in the actual blockchain, so that the chance of fraud is minimized. I don't recommend using it for anything more than that.

Bitcoin allows the installation of a client locally one one's computer. This client stores one's wallet, which can be encrypted with a strong passphrase, then backed up in multiple locations.

My advice would be to install the standard Bitcoin QT client if you have a computer you bought over the past year. Let it sync up (this will take 2-5 days, depending on how fast your machine is), then you'll be good to go. If you have an older, slower computer, then you can install another client like Electrum which doesn't require syncing up the blockchain. You won't add to the integrity of the network, but at least you can store your BTC locally and securely.

Anyway, do it all over again and this time make sure to keep your coins really close. That means receiving them via localbitcoins.com, then transferring them to your local client's wallet. All via VPN, or even TOR over VPN if you want it super secure and anonymous.

Correction: I was unnecessarily harsh on Blockchain in my last post. And wrong about saying they don't use secure sockets. They don't use encryption on their regular site, but do for their wallets. My bad.

I still strongly recommend installing a local client, with an encrypted and backed up wallet. Always beware of your security, so your BTC can't be compromised. And if you acquire a sizable quantity of BTC in the future, you'd best diversify your holdings. A Blockchain wallet would work perfectly in that case.

my 2 cents

purchased via bitinstant using tor email and creating a block chain wallet.

using btc to email option - purchased $20USD worth via cash at walmart - they didn't ask for ID - but you are only buying bitcoins so not a big deal if you use your real name I guess.

I hade used some bitcoin to purchase a 1 month subscription to try it out in late jan 2013

AirVpn worked great for me...since bitcoins have risen 60% in the last 30 days, my blockchain wallet now was worth enough to purchase a 3 month account.

Bitcoin Fog

http://www.bitcoinfog.com/

Simply Laundry

http://d42bnvo6k5py7uwr.onion/

The Bitcoin Foundry

http://foundrylsjtf4rxs.onion//

BitMix

http://vzpzbfwsrvhfuzop.onion/

BitBlend

http://bitblendf4kwp5s5.onion/

This is an update to the list of anonymizing services for Bitcoin I posted earlier. Blockchain.info no longer offers coin mixing unless you use their e-wallet. I can also confirm that Bitcoin Fog is not a scam (so far). Coin mixing is pointless for a VPN that you connect to directly. This list is intended for secondary VPNs run through a VM or other purchases where you wish to be anonymous.

Bitcoin Fog will rob you blind!

Bitcoin Fog is very dishonest and runs several types of scams on their users.  You can see many stories on bitcointalk.org
