How to prevent leaks using just OpenVPN client?

I have another VPN service, which I use with the OpenVPN client.

Whenever I have a connectivity problem with my ISP and the VPN tunnel drops, so does my Internet connection.

The state of the client goes to yellow and until I disconnect it, I cannot reach any Internet IP.

I'd like to have this behavior configured for AirVPN.

Can anyone tell me how to?
