dornhoeschen 0 Posted ... (edited) Since quite a while i have packetloss on Mesarthim. I write this to query if others have the same experience and maybe get this resolved. This server is described as healthy. Packetloss happens on other nodes and is noted on this websites server section. For Mesarthim that was never the case, but i continuously and reproduceable have this issue. Why is this relevant: Its the only Server in Munich AirVPN offers. Staff 10079 Posted ... @dornhoeschen Hello! Since February the 7th the problem has never re-occurred, the dc should have sorted it out. Strange that you still experience packet loss, but it should not be caused by Mesarthim: could you post an mtr report if possible? mtr -n -c 25 -w mesarthim.airservers.org Kind regards Share this post Link to post
dornhoeschen 0 Posted ... (edited) Note: first and last query is when not connected to that node (i am using a node in Frankfurt) I assume that the packetloss happens not from Client -> Mesarthim, but from Internet -> Mesarthim and Mesarthim -> Internet There is two IPs in close range. The first is still fine, the second has substantial loss: > 37.120.220.92 (no loss) https://www.lookip.net/ip/37.120.220.92 > 37.120.128.248 (loss) https://www.lookip.net/ip/37.120.128.248 The routing seems a bit strange to me, as it goes through Spain and Romania Edited ... by dornhoeschen Share this post Link to post
Staff 10079 Posted ... @dornhoeschen Hello! Understood. The packet loss occurs outside our network as you already noticed. Those two IP addresses are inside M247's Frankfurt pool (check with "whois", in most other databases the addresses are missing). M247 incidentally is also one of our providers but not with that IP address range. Therefore, unfortunately, there is nothing we or you can do to address the problem directly. It's also curious that our M247 servers (spread in several EU countries and in the USA) communicate with Mesarthim, and vice-versa, with 0% packet loss. We could warn our Mesarthim provider but we're not sure they can do anything as apparently they do not interconnect directly with M247 and after the packets transited through M247 infr. no problem appears; maybe it's M247 that should review the matter. We will ponder over the matter to see what to do. Kind regards Share this post Link to post
dornhoeschen 0 Posted ... (edited) This shows the stats when connected to Mesarthim as seen in the first trace. The second one goes to Cujam in Berlin. Note: This is the only test I did - I'm not cherry picking here - it happens whenever I am connected to Mesarthim. I tell you so you can investigate - it does not really matter to me, I just used Munich before since it was less likely to be banned from websites. But this is no longer the case - common blocklist contain all European exit nodes of AirVPN most of the time. For stuff that is blocked Australia works pretty well, tho the ping is really bad from Europe. What I want to say - I am telling you there is a network problem, but I wont do anything about it since it seems out of my reach. I will not nag you about it either.
