Staff 10111 Posted 11/28/2024 Hello! We're very glad to inform you that a new 10 Gbit/s full duplex server located in Zurich, Switzerland, is available: Alpherg. The AirVPN client will show automatically the new server; if you use any other OpenVPN or WireGuard client you can generate all the files to access it through our configuration/certificates/key generator (menu "Client Area"->"Config generator"). The server accepts connections on ports 53, 80, 443, 1194, 2018 UDP and TCP for OpenVPN and ports 1637, 47107 and 51820 UDP for WireGuard. Alpherg supports OpenVPN over SSL and OpenVPN over SSH, TLS 1.3, OpenVPN tls-crypt and WireGuard. Full IPv6 support is included as well. As usual no traffic limits, no logs, no discrimination on protocols and hardened security against various attacks with separate entry and exit-IP addresses. You can check the status as usual in our real time servers monitor by clicking the names of the servers. Do not hesitate to contact us for any information or issue. Kind regards & datalove AirVPN Staff 6 Andrew109, spinmaster, flat4 and 3 others reacted to this Quote Share this post Link to post
BlueBanana 39 Posted 11/29/2024 Speeds are decent, but already blocked by Reddit & YouTube. 😫 Anyway, thanks for the new server! YouTube is perfectly accessible (just tested) while Reddit wants you to login (just tested) according to their policy (any IP address not assigned to a residential ISP, in theory). After you have logged in to Reddit, you have complete access. Kind regards Quote Share this post Link to post
drum 6 Posted 11/30/2024 I guess BlueBanana was referring to unlogged connections to both sites. I tried yesterday (and while writing this post) and both ask to login to see their contents. I usually rely on Columba/Castor to watch youtube videos but i couldn't find a proper way to see reddit content since a ublock cookie related trick posted in this forum suddently stopped working, at least for me. BlueBanana 39 Posted 11/30/2024 Yes, that's correct. I forgot to mention that the blockage only occurs when the user is not logged in. Since i do not want to log in anytime i visit reddit or decide to watch content on YouTube, it's a bit disappointing to me. oassQ9w4cbl4AySZhhth%p36x 4 Posted 12/12/2024 the only way you are going to fix those issues is via purchasing a vps and installing wireguard on it yourself. theres too much automated blacklisting now, that if you use any privacy orientated vpn they'll inevitably end up on those ban lists because there'll be some 0.1% bad actor who ends up doing some kind of site probe and then that single actor's usage of the vpn results in millions of sites worldwide automatically updating their blocklists and blacklists for a period of time. its way crowdsec and others work. whilst you do receive reduced privacy by the method i just mentioned (since its just you on the vps) it can be a workable solution to those sites. its the only solution i've found so far that works, but if anybody has any alternatives i'd love to hear. Indeed. However, the method does not necessarily work with those web site that require you to register an account in any case, or reject the connection in any case, when the IP address, even if not black listed, is not assigned to a residential ISP. Typically this behavior is enforced when the web site needs to comply to regional copyright requirements or when its core business is harvesting and reselling personal data and profiling users.
