Re: utorrent download speed

Recommended Posts

Hi, adding to this thread. I have a premium account and Win 8 and installed the needed files from the instructions page. I connected easily, but speeds were horrible (less than 1 megabit/s). Then I installed the Win8 air client (posted in another thread) and OpenVPN 2.3RC1 which was included. This made no difference at all to the speed, and it's currently unusable. My connection is a 25 megabits line. How can I get a usable speed out of Air VPN?

By the way, the instructions say that I'm supposed to select "Premium Access" on Air VPN, but there's no option to choose between free and premium in my client. Are the instructions outdated, or is something wrong with my client?

This morning I had a brief period of 16-18 megabits speed. During this period I was marked as not connected on the Air VPN site and speedtest, but I had the new IP, so I was clearly connected. After a few minutes I was throttled down (so it seems) to 0,5-0,7 megabits.

Something else weird is that after disconnecting from Air VPN, I'm often blocked from anything related to Air, the VPN servers and even the forums are blocked. The only way to fix that is to restart my computer.

No idea what's going on here.

Hello!

What is your exact Windows 8 version? Can you please send us your client connection logs?

Kind regards

This is Windows 8 Pro. I can't see a build number, but it's fully updated.

Here's the log for my latest connection. With this connection I got 5 megabits on the first speedtest, then 1,6 megabits a couple of minutes later and then 0,44 megabits on the third speed test.

Hello!

Considering the logs and the symptoms, it looks like a line issue. It does not seem a connection or a Windows 8 problem at all.

Which server were you connected to? Does the problem occur on every server?

Also, please try connections on ports 80 TCP and 53 UDP, just in case your ISP applies a port shaping after some traffic flowing to/from outbound port 443 UDP.

Kind regards

I've tried servers in various countries, it's always the same. I also now tried 80 TCP and 53 UDP, same result.

Hello!

Do you run anything that can interfere, such as PeerGuardian/PeerBlock, Malwarebytes?

We are totally unable to reproduce this problem and this problem has never been reported by anyone. Just in case, is there anybody else reading who's experiencing the same?

Kind regards

I don't run any of those or similar. I also tried deactivating Zonealarm, with no effect.

Extra weird (like I mentioned earlier), I sometimes get completely blocked from anything to do with Air VPN. I just had to restart my computer to be able to post this message because the forum was not found. All other sites worked perfectly!

Figured I'd try again, but now I just get "Failed to start" when trying to connect to a server. (Logging on seems to work). How can I fix "Failed to start"?

I fixed that by uninstalling and reinstalling. My speeds remained very low yesterday, though. But today I'm getting good speeds at 10mbits +, so let's hope it lasts
