Newbie question on utorrent and AirVPN - bits of my PC are fighting other bits

Recommended Posts

My system:

Win 7 enterprise (64 bit)

Utorrent (3.1.3)

OnlineArmour Premium V6 firewall.

Installed Open VPN and Air client. I can start Air and log in without problems. As soon as I start utorrent, it will run for a minute of so and then hang. This seems to take down the Air client as it says it's not connected and tries to reconnect. It can't as the TAP-win 32 connector of Open VN also seems to have crashed and knocked the internet access completely off line. OnlineArmour joins the fun and starts eating 25% of the clock cycles on it's own. Rebooting the pc will not get TAP 32 or the internet connection to work again. The only way I've found to get back on line is to go into safe mode and uninstall Open VN. This seems to reset my internet back to the standard network connector.

Obviously, something in my setup is not correct, but I don't know enough about VPN to figure it out. Any help appreciated.

To be honest, I haven't tried - I don't want to surf the net without a firewall. Do you think that OA is taking out utorrent, the Air client and the Tap-win 32 ?

Hello!

Without seeing its rules, it's an option that can't be disregarded. Just perform a test for a VPN connection.

Kind regards

I downloaded and installed OpenVPN 2.2.2, which seems to solve the problem of Tap win 32 dying and the OA high CPU use, but utorrent still locks up. It's seems to create a hung process that just won't be killed. Firewall confirms that Tap32 is an active interface
