Airvpn with openvpn routers (DD-WRT and so on)

Hi to everyone. Wishing to apply as a premium user, I wonder if it's possible to configure a router (i.e. a DD-WRT one with OpenVPN support) to support Airvpn on 2 or more Linux and/or Windows devices.

Is there any tutorial/example to do so?

Hello!

Yes, it is possible. From us you need configuration, certificate and key files. You can download them all through our generator, when you're premium member ("Member"-->"Access without our client").

After that, a good reference guide is here (check your DD-WRT version, though):

So, in this scenario there's no need to install Openvpn on every client, need I?

I presume that all vpn traffic is between my router and your servers, my home LAN acts normally, right?

Hello!

Yes, correct. You don't need to install OpenVPN client on every node. With this configuration, remember that the connection between the router and your home nodes will not be encrypted by OpenVPN, of course (this is relevant only if you use the router with WiFi and no or low encryption - force WPA2).

I have a question regarding this as I also have a router capable of supporting OpenVPN. If the connection is between the router and your servers, I understand that OpenVPN will not need installed on the client machines, however what about airvpn.exe. Will it still need to be run from a client machine or is this all preconfigured by the config files you mentioned. Also, I do notice network slowness from using this (to be expected) and was wondering if it is easy to turn on/off when needed or to switch servers for various reasons?

Hello!

You understand correctly and in that case there is no need to use airvpn.exe in the nodes behind the router since we provide everything the OpenVPN client needs (be it in a router or in any os): certificate, key and configuration files.

It is very easy to switch between various configurations, since you can generate as many of them as you wish and rename them according to your needs, so that you can jump from one server/port to another easily and quickly.

Network efficiency and load balance for the nodes behind your router will depend uniquely on your router itself. Our VPN server will see and serve just one node, with the bandwidth guaranteed for a single account.

It seems that I need some help to configure my router.

I managed to start vpn connection successfully (not without struggling a lot because of need to manually edit openvpn.conf file by console to set cipher mode). However "ifconfig" shows me correctly a tun0.

Problem is that my PC connected to router won't connect to the Internet. This is not a DNS issue, I can't ping any numeric internet address, only local network.

My config is: main ISP router ---> Linksys DD-WRT Router ---> PC

Probably it's a matter of iptables, but I haven't much skill in that field...

If Admin or anyone else can provide me some help... THANKS!

UPDATE: I MANAGED TO SUCCEED!!!

It seems that enabling STP option does the magic.

SOLVED (currently under test).

Again me writing... hope to not bother anyone, but I think that updating this thread

can, and will, definitely be useful for someone.

I upgraded my router DD-WRT firmware to "v24-sp2 SVN revision 16454" and now

everything seems to be functioning well. Plus, settings are correctly saved into flash.

I find that I can connect, but after a few minutes my connection goes dead. I have to restart things. If this was after days, I'd understand, but this is after minutes. Doesn't seem stable enough for me to rely on this!
