ANSWERED General Eddie Client Problems and a Wireguard Question

Recommended Posts

Posted ... (edited)

I'm relatively new to AirVpn and the Eddie client.  I've been experiencing uncomfortable levels of packet-loss and high latency to the point that general web browsing was unusable.  I saw talk about Wireguard and how you can use it either through the Eddie client or through a standalone client using a config file.  I opted for the standalone client, and used a config file for my continent.  My question is does Wireguard still abide by the port forwarding I setup found at this link.  https://airvpn.org/ports/

https://canyouseeme.org/  Shows it can still see my service through the port number, so does that mean the forwarded port is still working?  Do I have this all wrong and WireGuard doesn't require port forwarding?

I will say I'm not experiencing any of the packet-loss and latency issues I was previously with the Eddie Client and qBittorrent is much faster now too.

Hello!

Yes, definitely. More in general, the remote inbound port forwarding feature depends on forwarding and pre-routing set on the VPN server for all subnets and specific for each client, and therefore nothing changes if you switch connection protocol/port/type and/or connection program.

Your setup is correct, we verified that your service is reachable through the VPN server while your system is connected to some VPN server. Keep Network Lock enabled to ensure no exposure of your inbound port on your physical network interface (i.e. your "real" IP address). Anyway, now you're connected through WireGuard and your port on the real IP address is not reachable, so it's fine.

Kind regards
