[WINDOWS 8 SUPPORT] Two separate issues

Recommended Posts

I'm having two seperate issues that I need help with. I upgraded my machine to windows 8 pro, and since then i've had troubles connecting.

When I log in and select my server it fails to connect then kicks me back to the airvpn client login. When I try to relog in it tells me i'm already connected, however all of my browsers are still going normal

I cannot fix this issue unless I reboot my computer.

After googling around I can't really find the answer, so I decided to uninstall openvpn, and download the latest RC of it (2.3 RC1) because it supports windows 8.

However now when I start the AirVPN client it says that open vpn is not installed.

Hello!

An Air client version for Windows 8 is ready.

The following is bundled with OpenVPN 2.3_rc1 for 64 bit systems:

https://airvpn.org/repository/air_windows8_x86_64.zip

The following is bundled with OpenVPN 2.3_rc1 for i686:

https://airvpn.org/repository/air_windows8_i686.zip

The Air client has been recompiled with .NET framework 4, so it will start immediately on a default Windows 8 installation.

Please feel free to let us know if the above solves your problems.

Kind regards

I traded an email with support and also posted in a few places on the boards. But to be complete, I had to also install the RAS service identified by the following blog post:

I did try OVPN 2.3_rc1 with the same issue. It wasn't until I installed the RAS service (and rebooted...sigh) that everything worked flawlessly. Even the default OVPN 2.2.2 installed with AirVPN works like a charm!
