New to torrenting - How do I separate local and VPN connection?

Basically I want to use the VPN only for qBittorrent and be able to use the my normal connection outside of that. What can I do?

You need traffic splitting on an application basis or virtualization. Plenty of solutions are available and covered in these community forums. Implementations may vary according to your Operating System.
