ANSWERED Congested Canadian Servers

Recommended Posts

The Canadian servers are consistently overburdened with traffic. The situation significantly worsened over the past 3 months.

did you experience any problems or discomfort while using the service or there are some stats that bother you?
If you use a dynamic DNS server list (not specific server) like $countrycode.vpn.airdns.org the load balancer that updates periodically should give you the IP to the least congested server to connect to.

Yes, the Canadian servers are slow, like now. All the ones in Vancouver show 100% usage except for one at 64% usage. I get in the habit of using the same few servers again and again so that the sites recognize my IP for my login credentials. I don't like having to use a random IP. AirVPN used to have better quality service for the Canadian servers. The severe congestion has happened more recently.

Hello!

The migration to 1 Gbit/s full duplex lines is complete. Now all servers are on 1 or 10 Gbit/s lines full duplex AND the new hardware is not a bottleneck. We have updated the real time servers monitor accordingly. Expansion plans in Canada are approved, stay tuned.

Behind the scenes a lot of work is ongoing and you can see the outcome now: in various areas the available bandwidth has been physically doubled. More to come in the near future. Please consider that recently a couple of VPN competitors went bankrupt, another one was bought by a big shady group (causing widespread customers' migration), and a couple of other relevant VPN services suddenly canceled an essential service that we routinely offer, pushing a massive amount of customers to leave. All such events occurred in a very short time span, so distinct migration waves overlapped. Nothing that we can't handle anyway, because the infrastructure was oversized. Please follow the "News" forum for updates and announcements.

Thank you all for your choice!

Kind regards

Hello!

In addition to what mentioned earlier, right now we have opened a brand new 10 Gbit/s full duplex server in Toronto, with high end hardware capable to push the throughput near the limit. Shifting to North America in general, we have powered up Miami with the addition of two 1 Gbit/s full duplex lines and two brand new servers with more modern hardware (each one with a dedicated line and port of course). We have improved connectivity in Los Angeles (bandwidth remains the same but now it should be more enjoyable from US residential ISPs). We are also working on New York City for a significant increase in bandwidth, stay tuned.

Kind regards

Hopefully PNW (USA) servers are on the horizon.  One of the few areas Air surprisingly has no presence in.

And this is why AIR has been the only VPN I have ever used.  Always trustworthy, you know what you are getting, not "promises" that may or may not be fact.  I will never go to another VPN; keep up the great work!
