Hi,
I know better now than to think the problem comes from AirVPN, but I am faced with slowness and would like some advice on how you would troubleshoot it. Currently I get the following going through the VPN (CH|CZ)

and this without using the VPN

My setup is a bit unconventional. As my router is rubbish and can't handle the VPN connection, I have to do it using my NAS. So my DG is the NAS, except for my guests who go through the router with no VPN.

I have tried to speed test the NAS but I honestly think it's fine but that's next on my list. What else would you say I could check.

Any help is welcome :D

Hello!

Please determine first and foremost whether the problem is caused by some NAS bottleneck or not. Connect a computer directly and compare the throughput both with OpenVPN and WireGuard on a level playing field (same protocols, same servers...). Please make sure you test different servers (both on NAS and computer) in various locations, not only CZ and CH.

Kind regards

Thanks for the reply. I took the time after work to do a few tests. I will share them as print screens for anyone who thinks AirVPN is slow ;)

Taking my example above, when on the guest network with a VPN client on the laptop, I get amazing connections in all regions. First connection is without a VPN.

As soon as I go through the NAS it all turns to poop. The last test I did with CHACHA and it helped a bit but in the end the NAS is clearly no longer up for it and I'll have to find a better solution. Here are the results going through my nas

Thanks AirVPN for the service and the support.

Hi I have the same issue, did your solve your problem ?

Hi SkyFyx,

You can see that running the VPN on my laptop yields good results but not through my NAS which has a small CPU. For me it was a matter of upgrading my router to something decent, or run the VPN on my laptop. Do you get good results from your laptop using Eddie or another OVPN client like Tunnelblick?
