ANSWERED [SOLVED] Qbitorrent not seeding

Recommended Posts

Posted ... (edited)

Hello !
I'm running a qbitorrent (binhex/arch-qbitorrentvpn) image in a docker compose who is hosted in my server (ubuntu server).
The problem is that i'm not able to seed, i can see peers trying to connect (sometimes with the U flag) but qbitorrent can't upload torrent:

I enabled port forwarding in airvpn and it seems to be open, i can see it when i click on "test open" in airvpn forwarded ports panel.
I use the same port that i openen in airvpn.

I had the same issue with transmission, i know that i am forgetting something but i don't know what.

Do you have some advices ?

Thanks :)

I had exactly the same problem with Transmission on mac.

As a preriquisite beware to enable the port forwarding in AirVPN as stated before and report the port number in Transmission (Preferences/Network/Peer listening port), the light will turn green. Please do not use Randomize port on launch and Automatically map port (feature for your router with UpnP or setup a NATing) as it is useless with a VPN and bad for its security.

The solution is to simply turn on the mac firewall (System Preferences/Security&Privacy/Firewall) and add the Transmission app with the rule Allow incoming connections. You should start to seed close to immediately if you have enough torrents...

This solution surprisingly do not work with Private Internet Access as an example despite supporting the port forwarding.

In a specific older qBittorrent version (we can't find which exact one at the moment, we're sorry) it was necessary to set "Tools" > "Preferences" > "Advanced" > "Optional IP address to bind to" combo box into "All IPv4 addresses". If it was set to "All IP addresses" the app responded only to IPv6 on FreeBSD systems (we guess on macOS too, therefore). This problem has been fixed at least six months ago, as far as we can see.

Kind regards
