frpergflf 8 Posted ... Hi All, Seems I can no longer use goldcrest on Slackware v15. I have had no issues until the last week of March, were connecting was intermittent. Now if fails all the time. Today I upgraded to 1.2.1 on April 5, 2023 but no luck. I renewed my W541 key, but I still get a failed login from goldcrest. It also fails if I specify -P and -U on the command line. 1. wireguard works fine 2. eddie login fails also. 3. I can use my ID and PW to logging into the AirVPN Web Site I checked my Client area and all seems OK by me. I would prefer to use Linux Suite, but it fails on login. Any ideas ? Did the version requirement for OpenSSL change ? Staff 9972 Posted ... @frpergflf Hello! The Suite "legacy" version is linked against libssl1.1 so you can keep using it in systems offering OpenSSL 1.1.1. The username is correct, so the login failure might be caused by a wrong password. What happens if your remove this password from goldcrest.rc file and you enter the password manually in the terminal, when Goldcrest asks for it? Kind regards Quote Share this post Link to post
frpergflf 8 Posted ... (edited) Hi When I type in the ID/PW, it worked. I then exited and started it my normal way using via the config file and it is now working. Odd. Anyway I guess I had to get a reply for things to work So all is fine right now. I wonder if I had to login manually via goldcrest prompts to get things cleared out. I tried multiple methods of exiting and logging in and all methods succeeded after doing what you suggested. Thanks Edited ... by frpergflf more info Quote Share this post Link to post
Staff 9972 Posted ... @frpergflf Hello! Unexplainable... the only thing that comes to mind is that you had some character in the goldcrest.rc configuration file password directive which was not displayed by your text editor. When you finally edited it, you unknowingly removed that character. Would it be a plausible explanation? Kind regards Quote Share this post Link to post
frpergflf 8 Posted ... Yes it is possible, I did have a hard crash a few weeks ago while goldcrest was active, but I was able to connect. Sometimes it would disconnect and I was thinking my ISP was having a rough time of it. Maybe that file or other files were corrupted on the file system and/or a the upgrade may have also helped. In anycase, all is good now Thanks Quote Share this post Link to post
