Inquiry about servers

Hello, I'm currently a guest interested in AirVPN's service. I live in southern California, USA and I'm wondering if there are any ideal servers that would allow me to have good and reliable connection quality. From my understanding after briefly looking over the "premium members" servers list, there appears to be servers in Portland, Oregon and Phoenix, Arizona which are relatively close to me; but then again I don't know anything about the range of these servers and how that affects me, considering my distance to them. Can someone please explain to me if this service is even worth considering for someone in my region? Also, what are "premium members"? Does that just imply these are regular members as opposed to me, who is a guest? Thanks to all who reply.
