This should be reconsidered and I ask to stop funding Mastdon on objective grounds, and fund REAL free-speech Fedi SW like Pleroma and Soapbox and or Peertube instead, please. Eugene Roshko actively collaborates with EU on censorship projects attacking freedom of speech like Eunomia, not even mentioning he has defederated almost every single free-speech instance and runs liberal CoC gulag for 6 million. I'd like to hear these "objective grounds", your personal definition of "free speech" and some sources for the mentioned collaboration. Otherwise, it's idle talk; trolling, even. And with the last part, if you mean which instances are muted or blocked by mastodon.social, one of the points of Mastodon is that everyone can run an instance according to their own guidelines and talk to instances they deem worthy of talking to. And it's especially mastodon.social that openly writes why an instance is limited or suspended. From what I read, it's a mix of porn, harassment, conspiracies, hate speech against minorities and bot misuse/spam. One must really misinterpret the word "free speech" if they think hate speech is okay, so I don't see how "liberal CoC gulag" is a reliable argument for such a discussion. What we can discuss, though, is whether Pleroma or even PeerTube can be funded as well. PeerTube as a viable alternative to YouTube would be absolutely gorgeous. A shame YouTube can't just be bought by Elon to ruin it. Quote Hide OpenSourcerer's signature Hide all signatures NOT AN AIRVPN TEAM MEMBER. USE TICKETS FOR PROFESSIONAL SUPPORT. alpenmilk 12 Posted ... Sock-puppet Musk is your liberal kind, so not sure what are you complaining about. Quitter continues censor-CoC-ing just like Marxtodon.socialists. Reinstating some chosen accounts of "elite" people who's were "banned" was just for theater. I am not interested in your liberal, manipulative opinions, strawman fallacies or what YOU think is "hate speech" or "conspiracies". "Hate speech" is law repugnant to every single constitution because of FREEDOM OF SPEECH, therefore your "hate speech" is null and void law. Hate is human feeling and right, so yes, it "is okay" to be human. You are clearly demoralized when you "think" freedom means restriction. You just spred "hate speech" and promoted censorship of minorities of people you just labeled. You also seem to follow COINTELPRO guideline, agent. I would remove you from Mods instantly. Pushers of censorship, a crime, have literally nothing to do here. You make every real German sick. @Staff This https://eunomia.social/partners {updated link: https://www.synyo.com/news/eunomia-project-to-combat-misinformation-with-decentralized-secure-and-trustworthy-social-media/ - Staff } is NOT net neutrality, this is mass surveillance and censorshp project, where people like your morally defunct "Moderator" ?? decide what is neutral. Do as you will. Note that users might leave en-mass as well if projects like this will be funded with their money. Marxtodon has no need for funding. 1 Stalinium reacted to this Quote Share this post Link to post
Staff 10014 Posted ... Hello everybody! We're moving the discussion from "News" to "Nonprofit", the community forum where you can discuss projects in your opinion compliant and non-compliant to our mission, where it fits much better. The "News" forum is moderated with iron fist and ruthless ferocity by the AirVPN founders. In "News", new topics can not be opened but by the founders themselves, and the community moderators have no power. Kind regards 1 alpenmilk reacted to this Quote Share this post Link to post
OpenSourcerer 1441 Posted ... If I answer in a topic my opinion on that particular topic, namely that I am opposed to stop funding Mastodon, I expect reasons and explanations opposing my reasoning. This is what a discussion thrives on: The goal is to reach a consensus of argumentational points. Sometimes this consensus is a compromise, which, for the record, I also provided ("fund Pleroma and PeerTube, too"). When in response to my remarks I instead get a bunch of offensive words directed at me instead ("agent", "you make every real German sick", "defunct Mod"), the offender is unmistakingly the one acting with the goal to disrupt. If it is not possible to maintain a healthy atmosphere for discussions, where my arguments are attacked and not myself, it's probably better to not allow the discussion to begin with. I would like to remark that, as community moderator overseeing these kinds of discussions, I do have a right to queue people for being counterproductive in discussions and offensive to others, mind you, as long as the reasoning is clear and one can backtrace what the trigger was. While that power is limited in certain places, as Staff outlined, do not make the grave mistake of thinking you're in the clear because Staff chimed in. If you cannot provide arguments opposing my reasoning, the discussion will be hidden from public view (because it doesn't focus on the topic), and you will get a warning point from me for abusive behavior; it's that simple. I implore you to overthink your actions. My viewpoint remains as is for now: Pleroma and especially PeerTube are definitely on my list of wish-to-fund projects, but so is Mastodon. Staff 10014 Posted ... Hello! We're glad to inform you that we will support PeerTube by Framasoft within a few days. Support to Mastodon will remain. We're considering Pleroma as well. We see that the documentation invites to support directly the single administrators (if they accept donations) operating servers in the Fediverse. At a first glance Pleroma offers very interesting features, including Gopher support (very remarkable: get rid of Javascript bloat and make Pleroma a BBS, when necessary), PostgreSQL as RDBMS (and not MySQL) and it seems resource and memory conscious.. What's more Pleroma web interface apparently offers a better end-user experience than Mastodon, but again we're still a at a first glance only. OpenSourcerer 1441 Posted ... Gopher should be Gemini instead, but that's even more niche than Gopher already is. Main advantage would be obligatory TLS, and the use of more or less agreed-upon GemText. In any case, I am interested in how an experiment involving the use of something like GemText as actual BB software would look like.
