NOOB help with initial setup

I am trying to get this thing setup and running so I can use a bittorrent client to download stuff anonymously. Problem is that something is wrong. Tunnelblick keeps trying to connect but getting refused.

I paid for and received the files from AirVPN for my OpenVPN connections. I followed the steps for Tunnelblick setup and have 3 different US servers that looked fast with limited traffic. I have tried all 3 with the same results. Repetitive attempts to connect with the connection getting refused every time. Over and over.

What am I doing wrong? Honestly I am a total noob to all of this. While I understand the premise of the Tunnel I was really hoping this would work right out the gate easier.

A few details:

Macbook Pro OSX 10.8 (If this is a problem I have a tower on Snow leopard I can use instead)

Tunnelblick 3.3beta21a (build 3114.1) - OpenVPN 2.3-alpha1

No ports being forwarded as I don't even understand how to use them

I followed the recomendation to use the Tunnelblick VPN configuration because I do want this to be an automatic thing

"Note: Tunnelblick VPN Configurations are preferred, because they may be shared, may be started when the computer starts, and are secured automatically."
