mrbert 4 Posted ... Hi I have the VPN client activated in my asus RT-AC86U router with merlin firmware. The client is running and IPleak does not show leaks and actually only the Airvpn dns. I entert 194.36.144.87 as secndaruy DNS Now quite ofthen I observe quite a delay when opening websites sometime a few seconds. It lookt like there is some timeout before the page loads Could this be a problem with the airvpn dns?. How could I check this I tried pinging 10.4.0.1 from PC but then I get time out. Staff 10015 Posted ... @mrbert Hello! 10.4.0.1 answers only to DNS queries, nothing else, not even ICMP packets. Kind regards Quote Share this post Link to post
mrbert 4 Posted ... @staff OK so that is why the ping is dead. But How can I test if it works? Is there a working solution for testing this performance? Without the VPN actvated the websites seem to start loading much quicker. And just tested with the 2nd PC where I enterend that this PC does connect via WAN Some websites do not open on my first PC but open normally on the 2nd PC What I also observe is that when I add an other 2nd DNS is that some of those pages open much faster without noticable delay When I enter two time the same DNS address the client can not connect anymore. mrbert 4 Posted ... @staff I even cannot acces my own bank website when I do not add 8.8.8.8 as 2nd dnd. Not verry private when my DNS request goes straigt to google? Quote Share this post Link to post
Staff 10015 Posted ... @mrbert Hello! Unfortunately we don't understand the issue, therefore we recommend you open a ticket. About your last question, the DNS query should be tunneled so it should not go straight to Google, but anyway make sure that Network Lock is enabled. Anyway, you should not pick Google DNS in any case. Good DNS which respect your privacy are OpenNIC https://www.opennic.org and Quad9 (9.9.9.9). Kind regards Quote Share this post Link to post
