"Connecting to server" infinite loop

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I just bought an AirVPN plan, downloaded and ran the app (Eddie-UI), but each time I attempt to connect to any server (using "Connect to a recommended server") it doesn't work at all, and after a minute tries with another server, and so on.

Here's the log until I stopped the connection attempt :

Sorry if it has been answered before but I didn't find help on other topics.

I'm using Windows 10 (64bits), also Avast is ruling my Firewall so perhaps it has something to do with this, but then what should I change ? I'm not an expert so I'd appreciate any help .

Thank you.

Could be, since you don't seem to be able to connect to the server at all. Can you try disabling either the firewall there or the entire software?

I disabled Avast completely and turned off Windows firewall, but it still doesn't work...

In Eddie Preferences > Protocols, deselect "Automatic", then select TCP 443 in the list and try again.

It worked ! Thank you kindly !

It says in the protocols list that UDP is recommended for the best performance, does this mean that if I use TCP it'll be less performant in some ways ?

If you like some reading:Generally, yes, UDP is preferred because it causes less problems for the protocols used inside the tunnel (i.e., what's routed through the VPN). But UDP is sometimes "watched" more closely (not in the sense of "monitored" but more like "kept an eye on") because of it's nature of being connectionless – or even blocked entirely. The latter might be your problem, the network you're in doesn't seem to like UDP.

I used ExpressVPN before I bought AirVPN. It worked just fine with UDP. So I don't get it. Why it is not working now ?
I also tried forwarded ports, but connection times out when I launch any test... I wonder if the two issues are connected ?

Possible port-based filter, then. Try different ports with UDP other than 443.

Okay, disregard my last post, then.
No idea why it would work with Express and not with Air, Express is not supported around here.
