ANSWERED ICMP not blocked when VPN disconnected and Network Lock on

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I don't know if this is something to worry about, but nevertheless this is what I found.

I'm using Eddie version 2.16.3 / Windows 64.

If you're connected to the VPN, then ping goes through the VPN connection (at least, playing with ping -t -l 2048 ..., I can see the traffic reflected in the Speed graph of the Eddie client).

But if the VPN is disconnected, and the Network lock mantained, then the ping command still works as usual!

I mean that if you do a ping whatever.com, then the DNS resolution will not work ... so far so good.

But, if you ping an IP address, for example ping 159.8.40.55, then it works, which means that with the Network Lock active, we can send information to a Host in the Internet.

I imagine is the same happens for all the ICMP protocol.

Regards,

Hello!

Yes: you can change the behavior by un-ticking "Allow ping" in "Preferences" > "Network Lock" window (then click "Save" to store the change).

Kind regards
