Can you please make sure that you properly copied & pasted the .ovpn configuration file generated by our configuration generator, and that it is accessible by Viscosity?

i simply imported the file downloaded which has worked in the past

Can you please send us the complete Viscosity logs?

From the piece of logs you have sent us, Viscosity is very clear about it:

OpenVPN configuration file could not be read

The OpenVPN subsystem could not be started. Please check the following:

- Check for any error messages above this notification.

- Make sure Viscosity is not running under a File Vault protected location (put Viscosity in the Applications folder).

- Make sure the configuration is valid. Check the connection settings for the connection using Viscosity and make sure all settings are correct.

this is the only log im able to locate, if there is a different log please let me know. I'm tried all servers, used embeded cert keys, and none of these things seem to work. could it possibly be a viscosity problem?

If it is, you should be able to solve it with Tunnelblick. It's definitely worth a try. If you test it, please send us the logs at your convenience if you find any issue.

still not working with tunnelblick

Fixed

had to unload viscosity kext with terminal and then relaunch. now running vpn with viscosity, tunnelblick was unsuccessful.

Very glad to know that you managed to solve the problem.

For your information, Tunnelblick 3.2.8 failed for the kext problem (which you correctly spotted) but please consider also that you were using a version (3.2.8) which is incompatible with Mac OSX Mountain Lion. With Mac OSX Mountain Lion, Tunnelblick 3.3beta20 or higher must be used:
