Gift vouchers: why are we forced to create an account?

I was trying out the gift voucher feature and I am forced to create an account to purchase one. Why? Shouldn't purchase of vouchers be completely independent of having or not having an account on the site? This is a negative privacy impact, it links the person who purchases the gift certificate to the receiver. Yes I know you can create a fake account but still this issue should be addressed.

That's not a problem since you can register in our service an unlimited amount of accounts without entering any single personal data, so there's totally no point in discussing it under a privacy, security or whatever point of view Even the time you need to register an account is negligible (15 seconds? maybe 10?).  So let's not waste time to discuss on this trifle.

 

Basically this method provides a couple of good things if compared to your method:

- the buyer can rescue the voucher more quickly if he/she loses it

- we can handle frauds more quickly
