Eddie for Android is distributed with ARM7 and ARM8 libraries. We have never planned to publicly distribute x86 libraries but we use them for the emulator, of course. Currently there is no plan to include x86 support, we are not convinced that the remarkable increase in size of the apk would justify this support, we're sorry. You can anyway compile Eddie Android edition for x86 of course. Kind regards Hello! We're glad to inform you that x86 libraries have been included starting from Eddie 1.0 RC2. The increase in size is justified by the support provided to cases like yours. You don't need to compile Eddie anymore if you don't wish so. Kind regardsAir vpn teamTo who it may concern. Sort of network lock from eddie desktop edition or OpenVPN "seamless tunnel"? Hello! Thank you! Yes, that's what we meant when we wrote about "best effort against traffic leaks". It's a "best effort" because in a device where no root access is possible we can't (and nobody can) ensure a 100% safe leak prevention. At the same time we aim to reach the same, or higher, level of leak prevention provided by applications like "OpenVPN for Android" and "openvpn-connect". With Eddie 1.0 RC2 we think we are already on a better level than OpenVPN for Android under this respect, but please keep hammering Eddie and stress with no mercy every feature, including this one. another question! Currently no command can be executed when you tap that icon, in spite of the displayed prompt. We will fix this situation either by implementing functions or removing the icon. We apologize for any inconvenience. User of AirVPN 46 Posted ... I think there is a problem with IPv6 on the Eddie client. Whenever I use the Eddie Android client with Samsung Galaxy S9+ on Android 8.0.0, whenever I connect to an IPv6 enabled server, the AirVPN.org client area shows me as having an IPv6 address, but when I go to ipleak.net or the ipv6 test website, it says I do not have an IPv6 address and I am unable to browse IPv6 only webpages such as ipv6.google.com. But when I try the same server on Eddie desktop or on an iPad using the OpenVPN app, the IPv6 works and ipleak.net and ipv6 test site are able to see me as having an IPv6 address. Here are the test results for the iPad (IPv6 working) (results on the computer are the same) : https://imgur.com/a/tqu8BtD Here are the test results for the phone (IPv6 not working): https://imgur.com/a/IVYBnhf Just to confirm, for both of these devices, I have selected “IPv4 and IPv6” in the config generator Also, IPv6 is set to "request" in the Eddie for Android settings Here is my log of the connection from the Eddie app on my phone, hopefully it will make it clear why IPv6 isn't working Eddie Log created on 31 Jul 2018 15:25:49 UTC Eddie for Android 1.0 RC 2 Version Code 5 Staff 9973 Posted ... Thanks for introducing a dedicated app for Android. I think it's a great idea I've been testing the latest Release Candidate on my Moto G 1st Gen LTE on Android 5.1 and this is what I have observed so far...It freezes and crashes. Hello and thank you for your thorough report! Please provide us at your convenience with more details about freezes and crashes. Android 5.1 is still in our compatibility list so we are interested in maintaining for a while compatibility with it. When you open the app the connection notification pops up every time and stays on the screen until you swipe it away which is a nuisance. We will re-check it and fix it if necessary. Notification lacks information compared to OpenVPN for Android. Can you make some examples? Please compare OpenVPN 3 in Eddie with OpenVPN 3 in "OpenVPN for Android", not with OpenVPN 2.5. You cannot load more than one profile on the app. Correct. Each profile is compiled on the fly from the ASCII file. This is not a big deal since the integration with AirVPN will make this usage superfluous. Lost VPN connection when my phone sat idled. The setting 'Pause VPN when the sceen is off' is unchecked. In some circumstances you might get a lock which could be intended. Eddie follows a "better safe than sorry" philosophy, so it will not hesitate to lock the connection when OpenVPN sends warnings which are a prelude to a critical error involving an inevitable leak: since Eddie doesn't have root access, it must intervene before it's too late. In some cases this could be interpreted as "over-locking" but again: better safe than sorry. Always remember to send us a complete log for any issue, you can do it with a tap. Log can help us remarkably. In this case, they could make us see whether Eddie locked properly or not. From what I can see there is no advantage using Eddie has over OpenVPN for Android when the former is less stable and versatile. At the moment you have a paramount advantage: Eddie can prevent leaks where OpenVPN for Android can't. This bonus alone is decisive. Of course with the integration with AirVPN you will see more and more reasons to use Eddie instead of OpenVPN for Android. On the other hand, "OpenVPN for Android" is a beautiful open source software refined masterfully by Arne Schwabe in years and years of serious development, so we are aware that we have a long road ahead. I hope this help the Team to refine and make improvements to the app. It sure will, and even more so if you give us the essential information we asked for. Thank you! Staff 9973 Posted ... Thanks for introducing a dedicated app for Android. I think it's a great idea I've been testing the latest Release Candidate on my Moto G 1st Gen LTE on Android 5.1 and this is what I have observed so far...It freezes and crashes. Hello! We can not manage to reproduce any freeze and/or crash on Android 5.1. Can you specify your environment? When you open the app the connection notification pops up every time and stays on the screen until you swipe it away which is a nuisance. The persistent notification is important otherwise there's no way to guarantee the VPN connection life. You should not need to swipe any notification out, it/they will disappear after a few seconds. Any other notification is fundamental to make you aware of any status change in Android system network and OpenVPN status. Lost VPN connection when my phone sat idled. The setting 'Pause VPN when the sceen is off' is unchecked. Of course. Keep that option on to save battery and also prevent some locks (when the VPN is paused, you are in a safer state). Anyway if Eddie detects a warning that is a prelude to a critical error, and it's not possible to pause the VPN, it will enter the lock state to prevent leaks. We consider it a very good feature. Kind regards Share this post Link to post

eldervamp18 1 Posted ... I have Eddie Client Version 1.0 RC2 installed and it keeps crashing. I'm on Andriod 8.0 Oreo. The app installs correctly. I Launch it, setup the profile and It connects to AirVPN. Once connected though, anytime I launch / open Eddie Client, it crashes and disconnects me from VPN. I get this message when it crashes: [Eddie - OpenVPN GUI has stopped, telling me to close app]. After the app closes, when I restart it, the profile is gone and I have to setup the profile again. It only crashes if i'm already connect to AirVPN. So its like once I connect to the VPN with Eddie, I cannot open Eddie again or else it will crash. Share this post Link to post

Unless I'm reading it incorrectly, it mentions that issue occurred while using RC1. In my post, it mentions my issue occurred while using RC2. I did not have my issue while using RC1. User of AirVPN 46 Posted ... Just thought of this: a toggle-able dark theme (with a dark grey background, not completely black) for the app would also be a nice feature Also, when is the updated version of the app that fixes the problem of IPv6 connections not working estimated to be released? IPv6 works fine on OpenVPN for Android client but I prefer the official AirVPN client Share this post Link to post
Wanderer189 0 Posted ... Just some feedback: I actually installed the latest beta version from the play store on an android tv box running Pure OS (like on tablets) android 7.1.2 and all is going well so far. I also tried to install it on an android box running Android TV OS (like Nvidea Shield), it installs fine via the apk download, but it will not recognize the ovpn files. The files work fine with Open VPN for Android. I hope to see the new release that works like the desktop version in the near future. Share this post Link to post
OpenSourcerer 1435 Posted ... Partly in reply to my bug report on Eddie Android edition 1.0 beta 1 released I can say that RC2 fixed the crash I had. So ResurrectionRemix was not really the issue. So much for "missing OS support" RC2 connects and works. Currently not the most convenient thing to use, though, as Schwabe's OpenVPN client has so much more settings and workarounds. But they've been implemented with time, it's been around for years. Eddie is stable so far. Not going to compare them in detail. I can confirm however the excessive RAM usage. As many users have pointed out in the past about desktop Eddie's Mono dependency, you should build it as close to native as possible. It's not a big deal on desktop most of the time, but Android apps really shouldn't depend on something as fat as Mono, considering the available RAM on some phones. Though.. we do have this problem with Electron on Linux. It's just horrible in my opinion to pack the whole Chromium browser into an app only to show some GUI I could view in Firefox as well. So with Spotify, Discord and Slack launched I'd run three Chromium browsers simultaneously. Think about the bloat, the.. RAM pollution this represents. Horrible. :/ Anyway, thanks for the app. I hope to see it blossom one day. Will continue testing it. Hide OpenSourcerer's signature Hide all signatures NOT AN AIRVPN TEAM MEMBER. Staff 9973 Posted ... Is there an option in the android app to select the available config files or do I have to download them beforehand from the mobile unfriendly airvpn website? Hello! You need to generate them from the Configuration Generator that you can find in your account "Client Area" in our web site. The web site is not mobile friendly but you can generate them even directly from a mobile phone. If you can't afford to do that, you can consider to download them with a computer and send them to your Android device (via mail or direct connection). airvpn, org will anyway become more usable from mobile devices in the near future. In the future, Eddie will also make the "Configuration Generator" usage unnecessary. Kind regards Share this post Link to post
