Hello everyone, when logged into Vega, I noticed Chinese Google ads showing up on the sites visited. I checked my IP location through http://whatismyipaddress.com/ and Yahoo, and both showed my IP as Portland, Oregon, so thought there must be a Chinese immigrant enclave in Portland that the ads are targeting. It turns out that Google pinpointed all of my sessions through Vega as from Shanghai, China. I am not in China but I deal with some content concerning human rights in China.

1. Is it even remotely possible that the Chinese government was tracking my sessions through Vega?

2. Even if they were, how & why does http://whatismyipaddress.com show my IP as Oregon while Google shows it as Shanghai?

3. Anyone else have this issue?

This is just an IP geolocation mistake by Google.

Hello, then Google must be making an error about the location of your server in Portland. Does this mean that everyone else who log onto Vega have Chinese Google ads showing up on the websites they visit? (I don't see any other posts on this issues on this forum).

And,

On http://support.google.com/websearch/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=873, Google says, "If you’re continuously seeing the wrong domain, just let us know about the issue and we'll update your IP address in about a month." Have you told google to update the IP location of Vega?

You can also use Google ncr (No Country Redirect) to avoid the Hong Kong redirection. https://www.google.com/ncr

1. With AirVPN, am I controlling the path between the endpoints?

2. Is it a standard IPSec remote access with a split tunnel?

3. Is only the tunnelled traffic VPN'd / encrypted, with all else being sent out to the local ISP in cleartext?
