Please accept bitcoins directly

Recommended Posts

[Looks like my last post did not get posted. Hopefully this is not a double post; a little frustrating to have to type it all over again]

PLEASE consider offering at least the option to pay you in Bitcoins directly. There are a few reasons -

- Transaction cost. The whole point of Bitcoins is near-zero transaction costs. BitcoinCodes.com charges the equivalent of over 5%; more than any credit card(!).

- Privacy. BitcoinCodes.com, like all third party payment companies, are required to keep more detailed, permanent records than you. And unlike you, they feel no personal obligation to protect anyone's privacy.

- Hassle. Having a third party increases the likelihood that something will go wrong, emails will be missed, etc. This can cause a transaction that should be instant to drag on for days.

- Accountability. If something goes wrong, or money goes missing, there is nothing preventing AirVPN and BitcoinCodes.com to point at each other and say, "They did it! Not our problem". In fact, AirVPN has made it clear that they are not responsible for anything BitcoinCodes.com does. And since there are no chargebacks (even though we are paying more service charges than with a credit card, where we do have that option), we have no recourse.

Given that anyone in the world can set up a BitCoin wallet in minutes and accept Bitcoins directly, there is absolutely no reason you cannot do the same. Again, that is the whole POINT of Bitcoins. For now, I'll just use a prepaid debit card, but it would be great if you could look into accepting Bitcoins directly, as they were intended to be used.

Thanks

Hello!

We do. Just use the "Contact us" form and specify that you want to buy an account with Bitcoin directly from us.

- Transaction cost. The whole point of Bitcoins is near-zero transaction costs. BitcoinCodes.com charges the equivalent of over 5%; more than any credit card(!).

Actually the prices Bitcoincodes offer are lower than those we directly offer for Bitcoin purchases and we are not aware about any 5% overcharge. How did you calculate a 5% fee?

Privacy. BitcoinCodes.com, like all third party payment companies, are required to keep more detailed, permanent records than you. And unlike you, they feel no personal obligation to protect anyone's privacy.

Bitcoincodes is privacy aware, you can connect to their site over TOR and tunnel your Bitcoin client over TOR. On top of that, you can use a secure anonymous e-mail or no e-mail at all.

That's not true, Bitcoincodes is the only authorized Bitcoin reseller, it's reliable and furthermore we guarantee the transactions on Bitcoincodes.

Ack, my post did not through again! I wonder if it is because I am using Tor. Anyway, I'll summarize:

First of all, thank you very much for your detailed response. My main question is, why does it cost you more to take bitcoins directly, vs. having a third party do it? They have to cover their costs and make a profit, after all. Also, why not automate the receiving of bitcoins? Gotta imagine that is pretty easy, no?

Hello!

Of course we could do that. However, having a reliable 3rd party provides some very remarkable advantages, which might not be immediately clear to customers. Anyway, one paramount advantage is an additional, extremely strong layer of anonymity, because the relationship between a Bitcoin purchase and an account activation is destroyed even for customers which do not tunnel Bitcoin over TOR.
