Not connected, Your IP: 3.128.31.76

Hello everybody,

it's my first time using torrent, that's why I am a little bit paranoid.

I configured everything, port-forwarding, network-lock, checked via IPleak and so on. And everything seems to be fine.

But it's odd, that during AirVPN connection the speed of qTorrent is much higher (shouldn't there be no connection at all during that phase?) and afterwards it drops a little.

I am not concerned about the speed, just about any IP leaks.

I attached screenshots of all my configurations. Can you please check.

Maybe i am too paranoid, but better safe than sorry!

Hello!

You can check some of the torrenting guides in my signature if you would like.

  • Anonymous mode may cause problems for you in terms of speed and can be disabled without consequence.
  • UTP protocol may also cause some speed issues, so you can try not using it.
  • Couldn't you bind it to a tun0 interface of some sort, instead of Ethernet2?
  • Was there no option in the torrent client settings to use Air DNS?

Otherwise it looks good to me . Well done.

In addition to AirVPN you could use a seedbox instead of utorrent. This way your torrents will be downloaded on a remote server, so there is no direct connection to your own system.  You can then download your torrents from this server with FTP (all encrypted ofcourse)

This is even more safe... I would recommend seedbox.io

Tank you for the super fast help!

I already went throught your guides (by the way, amazing work! already helped me a lot in the past!), but I am still a little confused about the following:

  • UTP protocol may also cause some speed issues, so you can try not using it.

Where did you see, that I use it / how can I disable it? I already searched for it and just can't find the answer.

Couldn't you bind it to a tun0 interface of some sort, instead of Ethernet2?

Could to tell me how to do that and what advantage I get from that? I found a lot of threads for that, but it was always very technical, honestly too technical for me. Maybe you can help me with that!

  • Was there no option in the torrent client settings to use Air DNS?

Could you also help me with setting the Air DNS?

Sorry for all the questions, I did some research but couldn't find an adequat answer.

Pointing me to the right direction/thread would help!

Thank you!

Bind the vpn IP too below Ethernet 2 (vpn ip is in Eddie-stats). You can enable logs in qbittorrent (view-->logs-->show) to see if the connection is properly established. When correctly established with vpn, you will only see the ip address of air server in the logs after you start qbittorrent. You can take it one step further by going to ipleak to check torrent ip. ipleak isn't really needed if you have already confirmed via qbittorrent logs.

Don't bother with utp or tcp, just leave as is like your setting above. Make sure your port is forwarded on airvpn client setting. The icon on qbittorrent at the bottom should turn green and nodes should start increasing right away.

I am also pretty paranoid about correct settings and honestly the qbittorrent logs confirm it every time. I get full speed on popular torrents with the correct settings.

  1. In the first picture, with "Enabled protocols TCP & uTP" you may be able to change it to use only TCP.
  2. Also in the image where you use Ethernet 2. The box should contain a drop-down menu for tun0 or similar. It's to help ensure torrenting happens on the interface Air is used on.
  3. Under Advanced>Optional Address to bind to, you should see an IP address in the drop-down, underneath the "Network protocols" box.

Do also make sure you're using the latest qBIttorent. Go to the Help tab and see which one is on your system. Depending on which OS you use, you can then compare the version to qBittorents download page.

Then restart the client when all those settings are in place and download the test torrent from ipleak.net. Let it show a couple of addresses, instead of just 1, as per your uploaded picture.

Then go to the Air Client Area and test the portforwarding.

After that, you can experiment with using different protocol and location combinations in Eddie, when torrenting, to see what works for you. You can use a Linux torrent if you want to test performance.

Then Linux will be on your system and you can perhaps practice using a virtual machine too

I'm glad the guides were of some help .

Again thank all of you. The log helps my paranoia a lot!

Also thank you for the detailed answers.

I changed / fixed all of the things + checked if I have the newest version.

Changed the "Optional IP Adress to bind to" to the shown IP adress.

But I just can't find that:

  1. Also in the image where you use Ethernet 2. The box should contain a drop-down menu for tun0 or similar. It's to help ensure torrenting happens on the interface Air is used on.

Sorry for being to blind or stupid, but there is no tun0 option. Only Ehternet2, Ethernet, Wifi, Loop-Back-Pseudo-Interface and LanConnection*10.

Make sure your port is forwarded on airvpn client setting. The icon on qbittorrent at the bottom should turn green and nodes should start increasing right away.

Not sure if that's relevant: I did the portforwarding, and everyhting, but my symbol is blue, not green. (Version: v4.0.4)

It sounds like it's all fine really. Especially if you're not leaking as per ipleak.net .
