harbingerzjc 0 Posted ... I was reading the locked thread about AirVPN updating their server-side in response to the article about security vulnerabilities in OpenVPN, and was wondering how a user of, say Windows, or a user with OpenVPN on their mobile device would go about updating in a way that would maintain the settings they're currently using for AirVPN? The aforementioned thread does include a way to update in Linux, but doesn't say anything about other OS systems. Share this post Link to post

harbingerzjc 0 Posted ... OK, then do I delete the version of OpenVPN that's located in the AirVPN folder on my computer, then? Because the one I downloaded from the OpenVPN site doesn't install it there and I don't want there to be issues down the line. Also, do you happen to know how to update the client side for the Android OpenVPN app? Share this post Link to post
OpenSourcerer 1435 Posted ... No, in Eddie's preferences you specify the path to the other openvpn binary. On Android you are completely dependent on the app's developers. Mr. Schwabe updates his OpenVPN for Android app regularly, can't say anything about the other clients, though. Sent via Tapatalk. Means, I don't have a computer available now. harbingerzjc 0 Posted ... I changed the path but it still uses the AirVPN's 2.3.8 version. After searching further, I've found that this bug (change path, but it wont change to the new version of openvpn) had been first reported back in 2015. What specific fix do you suggest? OpenSourcerer 1435 Posted ... Temporarily move the openvpn binary from the Eddie directory. On Linux, create a symlink to either /sbin/openvpn or /usr/sbin/openvpn. Find that one out by running which openvpn in a terminal. Sent via Tapatalk. harbingerzjc 0 Posted ... OK, that worked. As for the android app, I can't seem to find where in the app I can choose to run an update. Is the only way to uninstall and then download it again from the app store? EDIT: I am using the Schwabe app, btw Share this post Link to post
