Problem with BitTorrent even after forwarding port

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I've been trying to get BitTorrent working through AirVPN, using Vuze on OS X.

I set up a remote forwarded port, changed Vuze's port to the same one. I see a grey dot next to the port in AirVPN's settings, but still can't connect to any seeds. Vuze's BitTorrent speed test fails too, although the connection test comes back with "OK!"

Any ideas?

Thanks

I just checked the Forwarded Ports screen again, and it shows green instead of grey, but still Vuze is failing to connect to any seeds at all.

Any advice would be great.

Thanks

I tried using a different BT client (Transmission) and it works fine... BUT, I'm still not convinced it's working properly because checkmytorrentip.com won't work through Air VPN and Transmission.

checkmytorrentip works fine without the VPN on, but with the VPN active it just doesn't show my IP at all.

Anyone got any ideas?! Reaching my wits end...

Hello!

Can you please check that Vuze not blocked by some firewall? Just in case you use Windows 7 or Vista and the Microsoft firewall, please note that it can block some applications even though they are authorized on your main network area, because when you connect to the VPN you enter a new network.

Kind regards

I'm on Mac OS X, and the firewall is switched off, so I'm a bit confused as to what could possibly be blocking it.

Any other ideas? My setup is below:

Mac OS X running Transmission -> AirVPN with remote port forwarded -> checkmytorrentip.com - but It's still not showing anything. No connections at all to checkmytorrentip.com, which suggests it's not working. Or if it is, I can't check which IP it's using!

Hello!

If Transmission is working as you stated in your previous message but checkmytorrentip can't detect any IP address, chances are that Transmission can't connect (or refuse connections) to the checkmytorrentip tracker. The issue of Transmission failing to connect to trackers (especially UDP trackers) has come out just some months ago. Please see here:

As long as you have DHT enabled, anyway, you will be able to share files without problems.

Kind regards
