Right. Instead of doing something about global warming, Republicans deny it and potentially fire employees who talk about it. Just the beginning of Trump-of-a-bitches suppression.

I wouldn't assume anyone in the government genuinely cares for the environment, Republican or Democrat.

Government officials just want reelection, and they will say what ever it takes to make people happy, even if its a straight up lie

Does "Build the wall" come to mind?

Government leaders will promise a wall, then it turns into a fence, and before you know it it's a line drawn in the dirt with a stick.

I'm so sick of hearing this crap about both parties being the same. Anyone who believes that is just repeating some mindless mantra and willfully ignoring the facts. The Republican Party (like Trump) denies global warming. The Democrats try to do something about it (like promoting and signing the Paris accords). According to the Republican president, global warming is a scheme cooked up by the Chinese to weaken the American economy...the guy lives in his own fantasy world; out of touch with reality. Regarding Trump's newly appointed head of the Environmental Protection Agency, Scott Pruitt, the Economist (not exactly a liberal bastion) says "Trump would be hard-pushed to find anyone more hostile to that department or committed to tearing up the environmental rules". Clearly Trump wants to gut environmental protections.

So, Democrats are corporate shills, but at least you feel a little warmer knowing they at least pretend to care about you?

That's extremely naive.

I don't support Donald Trump's views on a great many things, climate being one of those key topics. Thinking climate change is a Chinese hoax is absolutely fucking retarded.

But it's almost as retarded to think that the beloved Hillary or the beloved Bernie would piss down your throat if your lungs were on fire, much less solve all the worlds environmental and economic issues.

Fact of the matter is, none of the candidates in this election gave a flying fuck about the American people. The fight for the office of president is not an effort of moral good to help the American people, it's an individual and party level struggle for power and control of the countries decisions and resources.

A president is incapable of tackling the entire nations environmental and economic issues, if anything is to be done to help our environment, it must be done on an individual basis and on a business/company level.

See someone throw something out of a car window? Pull over and pick it up. Discover a company is dumping dangerous chemicals into the water supply? Boycott their services, and urge government officials to stop funding them if they are funding them.

If you want to see a situation change, take the initiative to actually do something about it aside from ticking a ballot every four years.

One twist for the delUded hateS of America is that renewable power from solar and wind and in places tidal is becoming cheaper than burning fossil fuels due to technology advances and economies of scale. Costs are capital construction up front, but then sun and wind are FREE, rather than the recurrent costs of exploration, mining, transport and storage for fossils. Reverse hydro and battery and other storage are also advancing rapidly for smoothing supply.

One article which would also apply to America and S Europe is:

http://www.rossgittins.com/2017/02/our-new-comparative-advantage-renewables.html

Without counting the economic and social and environment costs of carbon/methane/etc increase and climate change. And the dead and crippled sons and daughters and vast costs of "imperialist" oil wars.

So the fossil industries have to create financial and policy uncertainty to deter and waste investment using their corrupt pollies and prostitute media.
