Very slow speeds (0-3Mbps), tried several things

Hey!

I'm having a lot of trouble with AirVPN. The speeds are incredibly slow (0-3Mbps), regardless of what server I connect to (ping < 80ms).

Things I've tried:

- Increase buffer size to 256k and 512k

- All available protocols/ports in Eddie, including SSL

- Downgrading TAP driver to 9.9.1

- Eddie experimental

As soon as I disconnect from AirVPN, I get ~70Mbps: https://i.sli.mg/gnzmfe.png

This happens on Android too. Maybe it's my ISP throttling? Mullvad works pretty well.

Kinda running out of ideas :/

Are these torrenting speeds? If so, make sure you port-forward.

Your router could also be the issue, if it's Virgin Media.

Not sure if you saw the edit in my original post, this is also happening on Android (with OpenVPN). I'm more inclined to think my router, a TP link wr841n, is the problem, since even on crappy LTE reception I get 5-6 Mbps, compared to 1-2Mbps on wifi.

I don't have any security software. Just Windows firewall, but turning it off didn't help. I'm not talking about torrents, just speeds in general, like the Airvpn speedtest, Speedtest.net, downloading a Ubuntu ISO, Youtube, etc.

Edit: in addition to the log in my original post, which corresponds to very low speeds, it seems Mekbuda works perfectly (Speedtest.net 80Mbps download), so here's the log:

Please try and disable IPv6 on all your adapters and make sure your router is set to run only 802.11 N. Nothing older - unless you have legacy devices

You can then also see if you can enable QoS - Quality of Service and give your main computer the highest priority.

If you can reach good speeds with other servers, your ISP routing may be an issue. Try other servers in order to find which ones of them work for you better.

A closer server to your country does not always guarantee better speeds.

I have this same issue, just having installed the VPN client on my Asus N66U. I followed the step above and disabled all IPv6 settings (did not enable the Qos) and ran the speedtest. Still kept getting around 4.5 mbps down and 5 up.

I then retraced some steps and under the WAN tab for my routers DNS, I switched it back to Yes (auto), from the No (manual). Ran the speedtest, speeds went up to about 50 mbps! and 4.8 up. Big improvement, still not as high as my normal 60-65 mbps without AirVPN.

Thoughts? Help?

What is the advantages/disadvantages of using the No (manual) setting for the WAN DNS?
