liptonicetea 0 Posted ... Hi guys,So, just a quick review. I was with hide.me for more than a year. Good :- superb speeds (I have fiber at home, 100mbps/50mbps)- they don't have port redirect, but support uPnp so torrenting was a pleasure- good android client- support many kind of protocols, not just openvpn- 5 connections- they have a socks proxy !- at least a server in pretty much every european country Bad :- not much of a community- it was super hard to configure for pfsense (thanks to an airvpn user I found a guide here on airvpn forums)- at the end I was having only 3 connections, not sure why. They could not fix it so I cancelled my sub Now, to airvpn: Good :- nice and sharing community- openvpn support with strong security- I can use an open source android client (I guess I could too, with hideme+openvpn)- pretty nice list of servers- port redirection with DDNS !! super nice Bad:- website is a mess for newbies (I believe in a easy way to get people to use VPN to protect their privacy)- no socks server support out of the box (need to SSH tunnel to my pfsense box blablabla...)- I only managed to achieve good speeds using the netherlands entry point, since I guess it's the largest network center of europe.. good/bad : - not enough servers in 3 eyes countries, probablt due to legal reasons, so this might not be their fault. So, I guess I'm going to stay guys. Thanks for the help and info you shared on the forum and have a good day. Quote Share this post Link to post
LZ1 671 Posted ... Hello! Stay where exactly? It's not clear to me. How do you believe the website is a mess for newbies? It would be interesting for me to hear what you think exactly. I assume you've also taken the standard troubleshooting tips to heart, as far as speed goes . Especially if it's torrenting. Thanks for the review. It was set up nicely. liptonicetea 0 Posted ... I stay here Well, for non tech savy people, I'm not sure how they can navigate to get the info they need. for example the tab named 'Enter' is weirdalso, I may be blind but I don't see any info on how to connect to a specific server without going through the 'openvpn config generator'For example this server : https://airvpn.org/servers/Atria/ stuff like that. but nothing too weird. Just saying, with some work here and there, they could gain more traction on non tech savy people Quote Share this post Link to post
LZ1 671 Posted ... Hmm, interesting. Because the Enter page links to a 3 step process of getting the Eddie software for your OS and then I'd presume you'd install that, haha. I'm not sure Air is inherently interested in having too many newbies . Good you're staying with us Quote Hide LZ1's signature Hide all signatures Hi there, are you new to AirVPN?
